The North Face Review
For me, being Home for the Summer means that I have the chance to relax, putter around and relax. I try to make sure that I’m also
fashionable when I’m doing it, though, because you never know who is going to drop by for a visit or when you will need to run out of the house on an errand!
I was really excited to get the chance to review some pieces from The North Face. I’ve never tried any of their clothing and I wanted to see if they delivered on the functional and attractive combination that I was looking for!
The first item I received was the Abby Convertible Dress. According to North Face, this dress is “made from 90% recycled polyester, 10% elastane, this dress is not only eco-friendly and comfy but the soft, midweight, brushed fabric had stretch so it moves with you and packs easy. The top of the dress, straps and all fold down to morph this comfortable dress into a causal skirt ideal for travel (two outfits in one!) This item also has technologies such as Ultraviolet Protection Factor (UPF) 30 and VaporWick® for moisture wicking keeping your skin dry and aiding in its protection from the sun’s rays.”
My dress was in Black (did you see the Shoreline Blue one though? It is really cute as well!) and I thought it was adorable! I was amazed when I read that the dress was made out of 90% recycled polyester because it is really soft! When I put on the dress I really didn’t want to take it off because it had such a soft and flowing nature to it that it felt really good on me! Because it had spaghetti-type straps (and I’m still working on taking off a few pounds),I decided to wear it with a lightweight sweater over top and it looked really good! I also tried wearing it as a skirt and I really liked the effect. I was also happy to find that this dress had a little side pocket as I hate clothing without pockets! With the heat of the sun this summer, I also appreciated the fact that it was protecting me from the sun’s rays at the same time. This dress is a definite winner!
I also received a pair of Women’s Outbound Pants to review. The North Face describes these pants as “Midweight, quick drying, soft shell fabric with DWR finish(Rainwear-rated) for extra wet-weather protection. Ultraviolet Protection Factor (UPF) 50 helps
protect from the sun. Constructed waist with adjustable belt, gussetted crotch, and mesh ventilation at knees make for increased comfort and mobility. Secure zip pocket is great for stashing small items and the stow pocket makes this pant easy to compress into itself and pack. “
To be honest, when I first received this pants I was a little leery about them because I wasn’t sure if I would like the fabric – they felt different than anything I had owned or worn before. When I actually decided to wear them out, I found out that I really liked
them! They are comfortable and flexible (I think that is due to the “four-way stretch” that North Face uses to describe them). I liked that fact that I could switch them up as the weather changed – I started off wearing them as long pants and then was able to roll them and secure them as capris. As I mentioned with the dress, I also liked the fact that these pants had pockets! I haven’t tried packing these pants yet but I think they would be easy to pack and would drop any wrinkles and creases easily.
Overall, I’m really impressed with the clothes I received from The North Face! While I’d never owned any of their clothes previously, I’ve been scouring their website trying to narrow down all the items I want to buy!
