Healthy Snacks Review

Now that I am watching what I eat, I notice just how much junk food there is everywhere! Sometimes I just want a quick snack that I can take with me while I am on the go. I am tired of chips and chocolate bars. I want to eat foods that my body will love me for!

I had a chance to try four healthy snacks that are both satisfying and tasty!

Bear Naked. I am not talking about being nude here. Its actually the name of company that makes natural, wholesome snack foods like granola, cereal, granola bars, and cookies. They use only pure and natural ingredients that are full of flavour. Its simple food that gives your body both nutrition and energy. I tried a bag of Bear Naked 100% Pure and Natural Trail Mix in Pecan Apple Flax. It has raisins, sunflower seeds, pecans, pumpkin seeds, apple slices and whole grain flax granola clusters. I like that there is no processed ingredients and its sweetened with brown rice syrup inside of regular white sugar.  It’s great for a quick snack and when you need a pick me up to give you energy. I usually get tired in mid afternoon so this is the perfect snack to eat.  It was crunchy, sweet and full of yummy flavours and its good for you! I like that the bag is resealable so you can eat a little bit and then save the rest for later. It retails for $2.99 for a 127 g bag.

If you are craving Asian flavours, then you will like Annie Chun’s line of all natural Asian cuisine. In fact, their products are all great for health conscious individuals who want quick and easy meals. I tried the Roasted Seaweed Snacks in Wasabi. They are vegan and gluten free. Its Korean seaweed that’s roasted and seasoned with salt, sesame seed oil and wasabi powder. Its full of vitamins and minerals and is very good for you.

I was a little unsure when it first arrived since I have never tried seawood before. I had no idea what to expect. I tentatively took my first bite and my mouth exploded with flavour. The wasabi gave it some kick and heat while the seawood with sesame oil was very savoury. The texture was really different…like a thin slip of paper! They are very addicting though. I couldn’t stop at just one! I would eat these again.  They are $1.69 for a package 0.35 oz in size.

For a quick fruity snack that is big on taste but low in sugar, check out Stretch Island Fruit Company’s All Natural Fruit Strips. All the fruit strips I have tried before have been full of sugar and chemicals and can be considered a junk food. These All Natural Fruit Strips are delicious and sweet with natural fruit flavour. No sugar here!  This is a company that has been around since 1976 (2 years before I was even born!).

I tried the All Natural Fruit Strips in a variety of fruit flavours. Each strip gives you 1/2 serving of fruit! I read the ingredients just to make sure they didn’t sneak in sugar there under a different name and they really didn’t! It’s all just fruit! I found each one delicious and would have to say that Grape and Strawberry were my favourite flavours. John also tried them and said they tasted like jam. Nothing but pure fruit goodness as a perfect snack to take with you in your purse when you get some hunger pangs. They are quick to eat and so good!

The fruit flavours available are Autumn Apple, Abundant Apricot, Harvest Grape, Mango Surprise, Orchard Cherry, Ripened Raspberry, and Summer Strawberry. Visit Stretch Island Fruit Company and buy online or find a store near you.

With all these healthy snacks, I need something to wash it all down. Water is my beverage of choice and I get migraines if I don’t drink enough it. I carry it with me everywhere I go even around my house! Metroelectro sent me a 591 mL bottle of Micronutrient water.

This is not your ordinary bottled water. It has no sugars or sweeteners and nothing artificial. Its simply water with antioxidants, electrolytes and zinc. I know I am zinc deficient too so that’s awesome that it can help my immune system too. The water is purified through reverse osmosis. I drank mine chilled and it was so crisp and clean tasting and was a delight to drink. I would buy this again for sure!

Buy Metroelectro online or find a retailer near you. Join their fan club and be entered to win their monthly draw for free Metroelectro swag. You can also find them on Facebook.

With all these healthy snacks, eating well has never tasted better!
