With a 2-year-old nipping at my heels, a house to keep in order, and meals to cook a daily trip to a gym is completely out of the question. Friends and family are always telling me there are movements I can do while at home to keep myself in shape, but I have always been under the impression that there is no way I will see satisfactory results unless I take myself to the gym. Thanks to FitDeck, I have completely changed my opinion.
FitDecks are playing cards that feature a different exercise motion on each card. The Bodyweight FitDeck features 56 exercises and doesn’t require you to have anything other than your own body to perform every exercise. For just $14.95, this deck contains all the exercises and more that my personal trainer once guided me through. It is so much more cost effective to pay just $14.95 one time than forking out $60.00 per month for 4 one-hour training sessions with my trainer. I recognized a lot of the exercises from what my trainer taught me, and I had no doubt I would feel the burn after using this deck.
If you are just a beginner to getting in shape, then this deck is perfect for you, too! There are 5 information cards that tell you which stretches to do before you use the deck, the many different ways you can use deck, and also how to warm up and cool down. The exercise movements are broken down into 4 categories: Upper Body, Middle Body, Lower Body, and Full Body so you can achieve a workout that covers every portion of your body. Each category is also designated a different color so there is no confusion as to which movement is working out which area of your body.
For my first time using the Bodyweight Fitdeck (recommended for ages 15-55), I chose to shuffle the cards to create a random workout. As suggested for the warm up, I jogged in place in my living room for 5 minutes before turning over my first card. I got ambitious and performed the actions on 10 different cards. Beginners may only start out with using up to 4 cards at a time, but I really wanted to see what I could do. After my workout, I felt invigorated and refreshed. The next morning, my muscles were sore and I was smiling. I felt exactly as I felt after working out in a gym, and I hadn’t gone farther than my own living room.
The FitDeck cards are absolutely perfect for travel (they will fit easily in an airplane carry-on, purse, or a suitcase), home, and even the office. FitDeck is appealing to those who might feel too self-conscious to go to a gym, but still desire to get in shape. Working out at home takes off tons of pressure and removes the distraction of having to work out side-by-side with other people. I enjoyed the solitude of my workout and will make the FitDeck a regular part of my day.
