Book Review | Where Is God In Your Life?
Author: Susan M. Provost
Sometimes in a Christian’s spiritual life we are not sure where to start or how to go about getting closer to God and to grow on our spiritual journey. Many people are just not sure how to move forward and that’s where this book steps in.
The book contains 3 different 2-day workshops which include the following main topics: spirituality, understanding the soul, God’s presence, prayer and spirituality in the community. This is the kind of book that you read on your own and also in a workshop/retreat kind of setting.
The book also includes seminar plans which are so well organized that you hardly need to think in order to plan your event. There are readings, music, a time schedule and ice-breaker activities which all seem to be designed to give a fun and structured experience to all who attend.
I found that this book can speak to people on many different spiritual plains. What I mean is no matter if your faith has been shaken and you are trying to find your way back to God, maybe you have doubts and/or disbelief or maybe you are strong in your faith and you are just looking for something more~ something new. This book contains prayers, discussion topics and exercises.
I think Ms. Provost is looking for a new way to experience Christianity and God in our lives. Not so much hung up on “religion” or being “religious,” but developing and maintaining a deeper faith and a deeper relationship with a God who loves and cares about us and who wants to guide us and protect us on this journey called life… not the God who is looking down frowning and being angry with us all the time, but One who loves us so much.
It’s a great book and one I think you will enjoy no matter where you are at in your spiritual life… even if you are only asking questions and you are not even sure what you believe, I think this book will answer many questions and lead you in the right direction in your relationship with God.
