Book Review | The Nutria Frog Kingdom
Author: Bayou Bennett
Two of our favorite activities are reading and music so we were excited to review the new children’s book The Nutria Frog Kingdom by Bayou Bennett. This colorful book is set in the swamps of Louisiana and tells the fantastical tale of the Nutria Frog origins. My favorite part of the book is that it explores ways that our children can easily save our earth in an age appropriate manner. After reading this book, my five year old son picked up a discarded can at a local park and said King Leo (a main character in the book) would want me to pick this up and put it in the trash. It also touches on recycling, turning off the lights when you leave a room (a big one for my family) and using less water for brushing your teeth, all in a fun and exciting story line. There is a neat question/discussion section at the end to open the door to communicating these topics with your children. Included with the book is a CD of original music written by Washboard Leo Thomas. My little ones really enjoyed songs from the Nutria Frog Kingdom CD and hopped and danced around our living room for the entire length of the album.
You can enjoy and purchase your own copy of The Nutria Frog Kingdom book and CD included for only $17.99 on the book’s Facebook page. Check out the Nutria Frog Kingdom website.
