Blog Spotlight | My Life As A Married Girl (and Mommy!)

Today I would like to welcome Katrina from My Life As A Married Girl (and Mommy!). I had a chance to learn more about her blog and here’s what she had to say…

Please tell me about yourself.

I am 27 years old. I am married to my wonderful husband Josh, and we just celebrated our 3rd anniversary. We have an 11 month old son, Jack, who is the light or our lives! I am currently a stay at home mom trying to pinch every penny I can. I love to read, cook, bake, swim, go camping, snowboard, and spend time with my family and friends.

Please tell me about your blog.

My blog is kind of a mish-mash of everything. I write about Jack, about things in our life, about topics that interest me, some good deals I find, and I started doing reviews and giveaways back in April, which has been really fun!

How long have you been blogging?

Well, I started my blog back in 2006, and had about 6 posts that first year. Then I had about double that in 2007, then started blogging more regularly in 2008, but with only a few readers. I really started getting more into the blogging scene in late 2008-2009 and grew my readership. I have been making a large effort to grow my blog in the past year, and it has been a success! I am not at about 250 readers and growing!

How did you get started?

I don’t exactly know. I think I had a friend who had a small blog, and I thought it was neat. A good way to journal without having to keep a journal. I was always so bad at those. =)

What kinds of products do you feature on your blog?

I feature a random assortment of things. Everything from Cloth diapers to cleaning supplies to accessories and more! I won’t turn anything down unless it is something I wouldn’t feel comfortable using or endorsing on my blog.

What was your favourite giveaway?

My favorite has been the cloth diapers. I think my favorite company to work with was The Diaper Wagon. Their customer service was amazing, and I feel like she made an effort to get to know me a little, and help me in any way she could!

Who does your blog appeal to?

I think my blog could appeal to almost anyone, but I think my biggest readership is 20-30 something women.

What direction do you see your blog going in the future?

I would love to see my blog continue to grow, but I like the direction I am taking now with the reviews and giveaways, but trying to keep it balanced with personal stuff too.

What is the biggest challenge you have faced so far with your blog?

Keeping it balanced. I know a lot of people started reading my blog to get to know me, and to keep up with what was going on in my life. Lately, with doing all the reviews and giveaways it has been hard to keep that personal aspect. So my focus is trying to keep it balanced to appeal to the readers that have been with me forever, but also attract new readers.

What do you love about blogging?

I love the community of bloggers. There are so many amazing women out there who I feel like I know personally, but who I’ve never met! And hearing the stories of how bloggers have come together to help out a fellow blogger is so neat! I would absolutely love to go to BlogHer one year. If only we could afford it!

Do you have a blogging pet peeve?

umm… second page captchas! I hate going to leave a comment, then having the second page come up asking for the captcha. Half the time I see it as I am closing the page, and I am too lazy to go back and re-enter my comment. =)

Do you have any advice for the readers entering your giveaway? newbie review bloggers?

Hmm… I think the best way to up your chances is to do as many entries as you can, but make sure you follow the rules! Always do the mandatory entry! Newbie review bloggers… be honest! If you don’t like a product, contact the company, and work out a solution!

Tell me some of your favourite blogs that you read.

I think the first blog I started reading was The Pioneer Woman. I love her blog! I also like Frugal Living and Having Fun, Magnolias, Marriage and Manhattan, And so many more! I read way too many blogs… keeping up with my google reader is a daily feat! (you can see what blogs I follow on my profile if you’d like!)
