Blog Spotlight | Fresh Start Academy

Today I would like to welcome Jennifer from Fresh Start Academy. I had a chance to learn more about her blog and here’s what she had to say…

Please tell me about yourself

I am a 34 yr old home schooling mom of 3 boys, I have been married to my soul mate for 15 years. We just started home schooling this winter, but only the 2 youngest who are 10 and almost 12, my 13 year old tried it and it just was not for him. So he is going to be starting High School in the Fall. My 2 youngest boys have Asperger’s Syndrome which is a form of Autism. I myself was diagnosed 3 years ago with Progressive Multiple Sclerosis. I love scrapbooking, sewing and any kinds of arts and crafts. I enjoy cooking and baking and just plain hanging out with my family. I am also a member of a local chapter of the Red Hat Society, although because I am under 50, I am a pink hatter until I reach the magical age of 50. The group I belong to is made up of mostly 40-60 yr old ladies, they are the best friends a person could ask for and I am so happy to have found them. As a family we also enjoy geocaching, and camping.

Please tell me about your blog.

My blog started as a way to vent my frustrations and share the triumphs of my special needs boys, and also share about our family, when we started home schooling it was a way to journal about our new adventure, and also share our journey of Going Green as a family to help protect our Earth. I also blog about my ongoing weightloss journey, then it quickly spiraled into doing reviews and giveaways as well.

How long have you been blogging?

It will be 2 years this coming November

How did you get started?

A friend of mine was blogging and it was fun to read all her fun entries and it kind of sparked my interest to start my own.

What kinds of products do you feature on your blog?

A little bit of everything, products to help you live a more eco friendly life, things that are great for a home school environment all the way to just fun games and products for kids and families. I am game for just about anything that my family could use or that would be great for gift giving as well.

What was your favourite giveaway?

My favorite giveaway so far was the Little Tike Spray and Rescue Fire Truck and my next favorite is coming up, it is going to be from guidecraft but I am not going to tell you what it is, because that will ruin the surprise.

Who does your blog appeal to?

Home School Families and Moms with kids.

What direction do you see your blog going in the future?

To continue to share our home school journey and offer more giveaways and review great products.

What is the biggest challenge you have faced so far with your blog?

Getting more new followers.

What do you love about blogging?

I love sharing my ideas and our adventures of our everyday life and our home school journey. I also love to find unique products to share reviews and giveaways with my readers.

Do you have a blogging pet peeve?

Mine as a reader is waiting too long to find out the winner of a giveaway, or a giveaway not ending when it is supposed to and as a writer not getting more general comments on my posts.

Do you have any advice for the readers entering your giveaway?

Do not get discouraged if you do not win, just keep trying it only takes one entry to win but taking advantage of all of your extra entry chances improves your chances greatly. newbie review bloggers?ASK , ASK ,ASK, the worst thing that can happen is the company says no, which usually means come back in about 6 months when your stats are higher, do not give up, just keep asking.

Tell me some of your favourite blogs that you read.

J. Leigh Designs, The Ethertons, Being Me, 3 kids and Us, and Don’t Blink…….. On the Road
