Sadie has always fallen asleep in the car for as long as I can remember. If it’s anymore than a 15 minute drive we can count her a goner soon after. The only bad part she gets herself all hunched over in her seat and ends up waking up with a stiff neck that leads to one cranky child. If it’s a short trip to town or from point A to Point B we try and keep her awake with music, or talking to her. If it’s a long trip we let her sleep and we always tried to leave right before nap time to make the trip seem less long for her…and for us as well.
For review from Melrose Kids I received a Head Snuggler. The Head Snuggler is a solution for those stiff necks. It holds your child’s head in place so there is no slumping and therefore they have a better sleep. It is Pediatrician Approved, used by chiropractors and CRSTs, Crash Tested and has a new tear-away safety strip. The Head Snuggler comes in 3 colors: chocolate mesh, pink mesh, and charcoal mesh. You simply slip it over your child’s head once they become sleepy or for a younger child you can use it once they fall asleep. Once they get older they will be able to pull it over their heads on their own. You can have it ready on the back of their car seat or headrest. Its a very soft fabric so the kids won’t mind having it around their heads.
I used Sadie’s on her one afternoon when it was nap time but Sadie wasn’t having any part of it. I took her for a drive to the light house and about half way there she fell asleep. I was by myself so I pulled over and slipped it over her head. Her head looks comfortable and she never made a peep. She was a little shocked once she awoke that her head was back and she was unable to move it but I quickly told her what it was and she thought it was a headband. Now she knows where it is a plays around with it and sometimes just falls asleep. It must keep your head in a comfortable position. This will be in our car from now on and I can’t wait to try it out on a long trip. You can get them for $18.99 US or $19.99 Canadian.
There are some discontinued patterns on sale for $16.99 US and $17.99 Canadian.
