Blog Spotlight: The Cheap and Choosy

I am running a feature spotlighting other Review & Giveaway Blogs. If you have one and would like to be featured, please email me atย [email protected]

Today I would like to welcome Amy from The Cheap and Choosy. I had a chance to learn more about her blog and here’s what she had to say…

Please tell me about yourself.

I am a 31 year old first time, full time mom with beautiful 9 month old girl. I used to live a very busy life as an ESL teacher, and now I’m busy discovering the domestic world. I’m learning to sew, cook from scratch, and all kinds of things I never did because of my life consuming (yet wonderful) job. Knowing Jesus is the biggest passion of my life.

Please tell me about your blog.

I blog about cloth diapering, anything else reusable, natural living, sewing and crafting, cooking from scratch, and all things frugal. I’ve just started to dip into the world of reviews and giveaways and love it!

How long have you been blogging?

I messed around with a few much neglected personal blogs over the years, but I got serious about blogging with The Cheap and Choosy just three months ago.

How did you get started?

My blog was born out of my excitement for all the things I was learning about being frugal, green, natural, and simple.I just wanted a place to channel my excitement about cloth diapering, cooking from scratch, and all the things previously mentioned.

What kinds of products do you feature on your blog?

So far I’ve featured just 3 products, one being a very cute apron everyone should check out before July 30th!

What was your favourite giveaway?

The apron is the cutest giveaway so far, but it was fun to do my first not sponsored by me review and giveaway with SKOY Cloth (which is also open until July 30th). I have three reviews and giveaways in the works related to cloth diapering that I’m extremely excited about.

Who does your blog appeal to?

My blog appeals to moms primarily, but not exclusively. Anyone interested in cooking, cloth diapering, natural living, frugal living, sewing, crafting or living simply will find plenty of interesting material on my blog.

What direction do you see your blog going in the future?

I plan to continue with quality content in all the above mentioned categories, and hope to do a lot more reviews and giveaways of cloth diapers and related products, green products, and products related to cooking!

I am trying to get together a series of 3 cloth diapering events for the fall, each focusing on a different type of cloth diaper.

I also have aspirations of starting an Etsy shop where I will sell reusable sandwich and snack bags, “not paper towels” or “kitchen cloth”, kitchen wet bags, cloth books, and place mats to name a few. Needless to say I’ll be blogging about that once I get it going and will do some giveaways of my own handmade products!

What is the biggest challenge you have faced so far with your blog?

Time management. It has the potential to be very time consuming and it’s important for me to not be a self absorbed blogger but really spend time looking at others’ blogs and leaving meaningful comments. I’m trying to work out a schedule to help me draw boundaries and use the time wisely, and not neglect other important tasks.

What do you love about blogging?

I love connecting with other people and getting/sharing ideas! Giveaways are a lot of fun too! ๐Ÿ™‚

Do you have a blogging pet peeve?

Not so far. I do appreciate blog hops that you aren’t required to make a separate post about. I’m trying to keep all posts content rich, but really want to socialize with everyone too!

Do you have any advice for the readers entering your giveaway? newbie review bloggers?

Since I am a newbie review blogger, all I can say is that the main thing I’ve learned so far is that it never hurts to ask! ๐Ÿ˜‰ I’m also open to any tips from more experienced bloggers! I’ve started a giveaway link up on Wednesdays, so come over and link up!
