Yum Yum Pendants Review
I ran across YumYumPendants on another blog and contacted the site owner to see if she was interested in a review on Simply Stacie. I was pleasantly surprised to find out that Ela, the owner of YumYumPendants, not only wanted to have a review and hold a giveaway but that she was also a Canadian girl who grew up not very far from where I live!
As Ela writes on her site, she “was born in Ontario, Canada where in 2005 she graduated from the Fine Arts program at Georgian College’s School of Design and Visual Art in Barrie, Ontario. Since then she has lived as an expat artist and accidental jewelry maker in Texas with her husband, dog and two cats.
Her interest in jewelry making initially sprung from the desire to bring her offbeat artwork to a larger audience via glass tile jewelry. From there she expanded to making bracelets, rings, earrings and eventually scrabble tile pendants- which is when the YumYumPendants brand was born.”
I loved corresponding with Ela because she is really personable and we a great time talking about life in Ontario! It is also obvious from talking to her that she cares about her customers and she wants to give them the best shopping experience possible!
Ela sent me a beautiful pendant and some earrings to review. When I opened the package, it was obvious that she had packaged these items with care. I was thrilled to have received a scrabble tile pendant with “To Thine Own Self Be True”. As Ela explains on her site, the “Scrabble Pendant is from an upcycled wooden game piece. The image has been permanently adhered to the wood and covered with a thick, glass-like finish. A simple silver-plated bail completes the look.”
Ela also included a cute pair of earrings. These are also made from upcycled wooden game pieces and have undergone a similar process to the pendant.
Overall, I was really impressed! I like the pendant because I love the quote (it’s the librarian in me!) and it reflects my own personal philosophy on life! The care taken to make both the pendant and the earrings is obvious – they are durable and well-crafted. I also like the fact that they are lighter in weight as I sometimes prefer jewelry that isn’t too heavy. I also really like these pieces because I’m a secret Scrabble player so knowing my jewelry is made from Scrabble tiles just makes me smile!
I think Ela has some beautiful pieces in her shop (I must admit that I’m in love with her Berries and Cream floral bracelet and I’m trying to convince my husband he needs to buy it for me and the Super Stealth Ninja pendant is absolutely adorable. I’m really enjoying and appreciate the necklace and earrings that she sent to me because they are cool!
