Blog Spotlight | Queen of the Castle Reviews

I am running a feature spotlighting other Review & Giveaway Blogs. If you have one and would like to be featured, please email me at [email protected]

Today I would like to welcome Angie from Queen of the Castle Reviews. I had a chance to learn more about her blog and here’s what she had to say…

Please tell me about yourself.

I’m a 30-something wife & mom of 2 little girls (ages 4 & 5), living in the valley of East Tennessee.  I work part-time outside the home as a Kindermusik educator, which is big change from my previous career as a corporate accountant.  I love to travel, scrapbook, cross stitch, & read, which is just the tip of the iceberg of my interests!

Please tell me about your blog.

My new blog is Queen of the Castle Reviews and it’s primarily a product & service review blog. I’m also planning to expand it to include freebies & deals that I find.  I wanted a forum where I could honestly express my opinions about products that I come across.  It’s wonderful!

How long have you been blogging?

I started my personal blog, Angie’s Spot, in April of 2008 and was hooked!  I started Queen of the Castle Reviews in April 2010.
How did you get started? My best friend began a personal blog a few years back and suggested that I start one as well.  I picked my domain in June 2007, but didn’t make my first entry until April 2008.  It took me a while to hop on board the blogging train.  And now that I’m on board, watch out!  LOL!

What kinds of products do you feature on your blog?

I’m focusing on products that I would use in my own home or let my family members use.  Family friendly is definitely a priority, but I’m also looking for products that would celebrate my individuality as a woman and mom, my daughters interests and my pets!
What was your favourite giveaway? So far, it would have to be my inaugural giveaway of a $25 giftcard to Amazon.com.  I absolutely love that store!

Who does your blog appeal to?

My blog probably mostly appeals to adult women with & without children.

What direction do you see your blog going in the future?

I would love to grow my blog to where I can work with larger companies to review their products.  My ultimate goal would be to grow large & influential enough to work with the Disney Company!

What is the biggest challenge you have faced so far with your blog?

My biggest challenge has been finding companies who are willing to work with a new blog that is still in the infant stage.  While I am not new to blogging, I’m finding companies are hesitant to take a chance on my new blog.

What do you love about blogging?

I love meeting new people and blogging has been an amazing tool for me to meet so many wonderful people all over the world!

Do you have a blogging pet peeve?

Word Verification.  I utilize it on my blog for spam purposes, but find it incredibly annoying.

Do you have any advice for the readers entering your giveaway? newbie review bloggers?

I never require someone to “follow” me as part of entering a giveaway, for a few reasons.  Mostly because I would hope that the reader would return to my blog often because they like my content or point of view.  Of course, having them become a follower definitely makes me happy!  My advice to newbie review bloggers is not to get frustrated and give up.  If you’re lucky, you’ll get 1 pitch out of every 10 that you make.  And “no” often means “not right now”.  Keep a list and contact the “no’s” again when you’ve got some additional experience under your belt.

Tell me some of your favourite blogs that you read.

I really like Simply Stacie, Reviews from the Nuthouse, Busy Working Mama, & Product Reviews by the Experimental Mommy, just to name a few.

How can people find you?

You can find me at my review blog which is http://queenofthecastlereviews.blogspot.com or my personal blog at www.anticswithangie.com.
