Mommys Minute
Today I would like to welcome Sarah from Mommy’s Minute. I had a chance to learn more about her blog and here’s what she had to say…

Please tell me about yourself.

My name is Sarah and I’m a SAHM to a precious little boy. I am an imperfect wife, mother, and third generation pastor’s wife. I absolutely adore reading and writing (not too fond of arithmetic).

Please tell me about your blog.

“Mommy’s Minute” was created because I recognized the importance of having at least a minute for myself each day. I want my site to be a place where moms can come to for a minute or two to share, unwind, and learn about fun things together.

How long have you been blogging?

I started “Mommy’s Minute” in February of 2010. I was a journalism major in college, but since having my son I haven’t had much of a chance to put into practice what I’ve learned. Blogging has been a fantastic way to get my thoughts down and connect with others.

How did you get started?

I was introduced to the world of product review blogs by my cousin. I didn’t know such a wonderful thing existed! I won a few giveaways and I was hooked. After reading a few fantastic blogs I thought, “I would love to do this myself!”

What kinds of products do you feature on your blog?

I feature family friendly products – everything from books to baby proofing.

What was your favourite giveaway?

I’ve just started offering giveaways a few months ago. I’ve had the chance to give away some great books. I was thrilled to win a nook from a fellow blogger last month. That just about made my year! I’ve got about 10 giveaways scheduled to happen in the next couple months.

Who does your blog appeal to?

My blog caters primarily to moms and families, but there’s a little bit of something for everyone.

What direction do you see your blog going in the future?

I would love the opportunity to reach out to readers around the world. It sounds cheesy, but I really just want to do a good job with my blog and be the kind of site that visitors want to come back to again and again. I want to make a difference.

What is the biggest challenge you have faced so far with your blog?

Understanding HTML and CSS has been my greatest challenge thus far. I’m still learning how to tweak things on my site. It has also been a challenge to balance my time. Blogging and networking can easily eat up my entire evening.

What do you love about blogging?

I love the opportunity to meet people from all over the place. I’ve learned that we share a lot of the same struggles and joys. It’s nice to recognize that you’re not the only one facing challenges. I also love giving away products. It feels like Christmas. 🙂

Do you have a blogging pet peeve?

My biggest pet peeve is negativity. If you wouldn’t say it to the person’s face, you shouldn’t put it on your blog. Fortunately, I haven’t run across that very often.

Do you have any advice for the readers entering your giveaway? newbie review bloggers?

My giveaways are soooooo easy to enter, and since I’m relatively new to blogging your odds of winning something are usually fantastic! My biggest word of advice would be to take advantage of daily entries like tweeting. My giveaways usually run for two weeks. If you tweet every day that gives you 14 entries using Twitter alone!

Tell me some of your favourite blogs that you read.

I love to read Susan Heim on Parenting, she has some fantastic reviews and great stuff for families. I also enjoy Tara’s View of the World, Beth Moore’s Living Proof blog, and Akron Ohio Moms.

How can people find you?

Stop by anytime. I’ll gladly put off folding laundry and doing the dishes to visit with my friends 🙂

You can find me on my site Mommy’s Minute.
