Thoughts on Blogger to WordPress Transfer
Well, its done! I am now here on WordPress. I think I am going to really like it once I figure out how it all works. It is very different from Blogger and there seems to be much more that you can do. Jessica showed me a few things today and has been very patient in helping me get set up. I have a tonne of stuff to catch up on and so many giveaways and reviews ready to post. I will be doing those tomorrow. I am taking the day off today!
So would I do the transfer again? The answer is yes in a heartbeat. I feel much better being off Blogger. I lived in fear of my blog disappearing overnight and all my hard work to be down the drain. I am happy to get rid of my old cumbersome url and onto my new domain. I like that its short compared to the long blogspot address I had which wouldn’t even fully fit on my business cards!
There’s still a few things we are working on. Jessica is looking into how to make the redirect automatic from Blogger to here. Right now you need to click “Yes” you would like to be redirected. I have changed my url on Facebook and Twitter and Jessica has updated my Feedburner for my email newsletter. The Google Friend Connect has been moved over successfully too. I know some of you were worried about losing followers.
Some posts were likely left behind and I will have to figure out which ones in the coming weeks. Jessica said I had so many posts and comments that I crashed the server a few times while she was importing it all! LOL!
I still need to go through the Uncategorized posts and put them in categories. So as you can see just a few little things that I need to do. I would imagine I will be tweeking it for the first little bit until I get it set up just the way I want it.
Overall it was painless and not too stressful. I felt that I was in good hands working with Jessica at iDesigns. She is awesome!
If you have any questions about the whole process, feel free to ask. If you leave a comment, I can reply within your comment. How cool is that feature!!
I wish you all a very Happy Mother’s Day! Enjoy the rest of your day.
