It’s a simple process, and the website is easy to follow. You simply choose your favorite scent. Then, the system offers suggestions of other notes that match your scent. You can consider their recipes, or continue on to choose your own combination. There are dozens of scents to choose from in several categories, including florals, fruits, exotic scents, and even combinations that are already on the market. After you pick your favorite combination, you get to design your own bottle. Pick what color you want your perfume to be, the shape of the bottle and cap, and even name your formula and design the label.
I wanted something that reminded me of spending a fall weekend in the rain forest in Puerto Rico with my best friend. Trust me, there is nothing out there that replicates that. I visited the Scentcrafters site and chose Hibiscus as my top note. It’s the national flower of Puerto Rico. I wanted something that was reminiscent of the warmth and sweetness of the sun but without smelling like suntan lotion, so I chose Almond. I also wanted something a little citrusy and spicy, so I clicked on Bergamot. To round it out and remind myself of the green smell of the rain forest at night, I chose Cucumber. I named my creation “Luquillo,” which is the name of one of the beaches I visited.
My 3.4 ounce bottle of Luquillo perfume arrived in a satin bag. I sprayed it on, and the warm sweetness of the Almond prevailed. Once it dried, the mix was a clean, powdery, spicy-smelling blend. It’s perfect, and the entire process was a lot of fun! I totally recommend going to Scentcrafters and designing your own fragrance. If you try mine, let me know how you like it.
