Title: Face It: What Women Really Feel as Their Looks Change
Author: Vivian Diller, Ph.D, Jill Muir-Sukenick, Ph.D
Up front for me it helped knowing the authors were both models, who went on to further their education and get their PhDs, so they do know what they are talking about where this is concerned. If your first initial reaction is oh no, it’s another beauty book, why do we need another beauty book let me assure you, this is not your typical “beauty book, I promise!
This book will help you to grow old gracefully, from the lines and wrinkles on the outside, to the emotional stuff you might have going on, on the inside! Even just reading the introduction and first few chapters, you could tell this was going to be something different…but something all older people should read! I am 45 years old, and am just starting to get a few lines and wrinkles under my eyes. I also found it very curious that they would talk about the correlation between adolescence and midlife, though you will have to read the book to understand why!
You will get 6 steps to help you change the way you think and feel. It’s time to deal with some of those issues in your past, so that the next 20 years isn’t like dealing with the past 20 years! If you have looked at your past, and you need a way to help you to figure it all out, then this is the book to start with. I know for me, things actually have started to make sense in my life, especially by reading this book.
I also liked that the authors gave you people actual people that you can read about, that are also dealing with their own things giving you another insight to things, instead of just your own thinking. Sometimes we can look at another person for answers, even though they may not be going through the same issue you are. This book just helps you to realize that no amount of beauty products can ever mask what is on the inside of a person. Beauty is more than just the products someone uses; it is about how that person is when they are around others. You can use all the products in the world, but if you are unhappy on the inside, beauty products won’t touch you, it will only mask you! Here’s to growing old gracefully, with dignity and respect!
