Blog Spotlight | A Moms Rantings

I am running a feature spotlighting other Review & Giveaway Blogs. If you have one and would like to be featured, please email me at [email protected] (it’s free!).

Today I would like to welcome Rachel fromA Moms Rantings and I Green Mommy. I had a chance to learn more about her blogs and here’s what she had to say…

Please tell me about yourself.

My name is Rachel McGuire I’m 39 yrs old. Born in Ohio, but have lived in SE Missouri since I was 13 yrs old. Married with 3 beautiful children quickly growing into adults. My passions are my family (children), pets, Cooking, Wine, camping out in the summer building snowmen in the winter and Doing Every craft I can get my hands on in my spare time, that is when I’m not blogging about Product Reviews I’ve done / going to do and giveaways I’m offering or entering (which is a new obsession. I love to enter giveaways as much as I love to GIVE things away on my blog).

Please tell me about your blog.

I have a couple blogs actually. I spend most of my time between A Moms Rantings and I Green Mommy. A Moms Rantings is all about my life, family, parenting and such. I blog about the products I like to review, contests and giveaways that I enter for myself to win and I blog about my own Giveaways that I offer as well as anything I find on the big world wide web that I find of interest to me. My I Green Mommy blog is all about going green one step at a time. I even do product reviews that are “green” related on that blog as well. It was created out of my need to Blog about my Green products that I sell at my Etsy shop. Not everyone wants to read about my family life and obsessions. lol.

How long have you been blogging?

I’ve only been blogging for around a year. I started out blogging about my Digital Scrapbooking and soon became interested in blogging about my own personal life and experiences. I saw how popular product reviews were and wanted to get involved in that as well. Since then, I haven’t found anything else I like doing more (next to creating my crafty green products that I sell online at my Etsy shop).

How did you get started?

I had always been the type of gal to “do it myself” so I had webpages that I hosted on Domains that I bought through I had a bath and body shop that was fairly successful, but after three years it became clear it was not “me” anymore. I had a website with shopping cart to sell my Digital creations for Scrapbooking, but that too didn’t feel like “me”. I discovered Blogging and wondered what all the fuss was about. did a LOT of research and soon found that it intrigued me. I didn’t take long before I felt very “fulfilled” with my own adventures in blogging. It makes me happy. And even if in three years I find that I need more or something new. I will always know that I found something that I loved.

What kinds of products do you feature on your blog?

Mostly Family Friendly, Pet, child, cooking, Eco friendly items. Not all items have to be Eco friendly though. Just is a plus if they are. I love to review products I know I (and others) may use on a daily basis.

What was your favourite giveaway?

One that I held ? or One that I won ?.. lol..
So far My favorite was the Valentines Giveaway that Just ended. I was so excited about it. I ended up with Twice as much stuff to put in the box than what I had started out blogging about. So much stuff that I gave two runners up large envies FULL of stuff too. lol.. as for one that I Entered. That would have to be My second win ever: A Samsung Washer and dryer set. Yeah. That one was a BIG one and a Great one.

Who does your blog appeal to?
I try to appeal to anyone family minded. Such as mom’s just like myself, but grandparents, aunts, uncles and dad’s too.. I blog about embarrassing moments and experiences in hopes that moms will see that they are not alone. I believe a few dad’s might be followers as well.

What direction do you see your blog going in the future?

I’m not sure. I keep so busy I have a hard time seeing past today. I would like to see my following / readers numbers grow greatly. I would love to see more discussions started on the topics I post. However, I’m happy no matter what my direction my blog goes in.

What is the biggest challenge you have faced so far with your blog?

Even though I’m a young blog of just a few months (active) I’ve had to turn down product reviews that are coming my way. NOT because I don’t want to do them, but because I don’t want to end up taking up too much of my family time. after all, that was my inspiration for this blog (A Moms Rantings)

What do you love about blogging?

It’s so Free and open and you can blog about whatever your hearts desire. It’s not a stressful Job situations. It’s a fun social experience that just happens to bring free stuff and a nice income.

Do you have a blogging pet peeve?

Not yet. I’m pretty open to criticism and those that feel the need to ” correct ” me. lol…
It’s a free world. Just don’t cut me off in traffic (while driving).. Then we’ll talk about Pet Peeves. lol

Do you have any advice for the readers entering your giveaway?

Yes, Good luck and know that it is ALL RANDOM in the end, but I do Read every single entry that is posted on my giveaways. I love to hear what people think.

newbie review bloggers?

Take it slow and don’t let yourself get overwhelmed. Most of all, have fun and do your research. Read other bloggers reviews to get an idea of how YOU want to do YOUR reviews and for things to avoid. Oh, and be sure to develop your writing skills a bit. It does make a difference in WHO contacts you to do a review for them. ONE place I recommend joining is once your established.

Tell me some of your favourite blogs that you read. ,, some of my favorites.
