Blog Spotlight | Sweeps4Bloggers
I am running a feature spotlighting other Review & Giveaway Blogs. If you have one and would like to be featured, please email me at [email protected]
Today I would like to welcome Valerie from Sweeps4Bloggers. I had a chance to learn more about her blog and here’s what she had to say…
Please tell me about yourself.
I love giveaways! I’ve been entering and winning sweepstakes for years and am now having fun running giveaways on my blog.
Please tell me about your blog.
Sweeps4Bloggers is a happy place to discover new products and enter for a chance to win fabulous prizes.
How long have you been blogging?
About a year
How did you get started?
I started entering other blog giveaways and soon realized that I wanted to run my own.
What kinds of products do you feature on your blog?
I like to feature a wide variety of products – something for everyone. I am a big fan of green products that are good for people and our earth and I love books.
What was your favourite giveaway?
Hard to say… I only agree to review/giveaway products that I believe I will like, so I like just about everything that gets posted.
Who does your blog appeal to?
People who like to discover new products and win prizes.
What direction do you see your blog going in the future?
More giveaways and more reviews!
What is the biggest challenge you have faced so far with your blog?
At the end of November my Blogger site went down – Google still hasn’t fixed it. My subscribers, followers, stats, Alexa and page rank …. all gone – everything that I had been working so hard for. December was far more stressful than I would have liked, but… the new self-hosted site is fully functional and I’m very happy with how quickly it all came together.
What do you love about blogging?
I enjoy the whole giveaway process. It’s fun to work with the businesses, try out new products and give out prizes. I’ve met some great people – business owners, PR reps, other bloggers and entrants.
Do you have a blogging pet peeve?
Most of the people I work with are wonderful, but every now and then … PR/Businesses that want free advertising irritate me. If they want a review, they need to provide an actual product to be reviewed. I can’t provide an honest review based on some pretty high-res pictures or a press release. I do reviews and giveaways for free when they provide the review product. If they want an advertisement that doesn’t involve a review, they can pay for it. They don’t work for free and shouldn’t expect me to.
Do you have any advice for the readers entering your giveaway?
Pay attention to the entry requirements and don’t cheat. Mine are all set up in the same basic way. There is a mandatory entry and optional bonus entries. I don’t police the entries as they come in (other than to delete porn and spam), but I do check the entries when I choose the winners.
newbie review bloggers? This is hard work. I thoroughly enjoy what I do, but this is not just a way to score some free products – it’s work.
Tell me some of your favourite blogs that you read.
I don’t want to leave anyone out, but here are a few that are run by some exceptional women 🙂
