Blog Spotlight | Dad of Divas
I am running a feature spotlighting other Review & Giveaway Blogs. If you have one and would like to be featured, please email me at [email protected]
Today I would like to welcome Chris from Dad of Divas. I had a chance to learn more about his blog and here’s what he had to say…
I am a father of 2 girls ages 2 & 5 who continually keep me on my toes. I have been married for 11 years to a great woman who I learn from daily. I work in college administration and have been doing this for 10.5 years and find it very rewarding.
Please tell me about your blog.
I have been blogging now for about 2.5 years and my blog has changed over time but focuses on my experiences as a father trying to regain some semblance of my kingdom. The name of my blog came from a brainstorming session with my wife and it just stuck. I have been learning day-by-day what it means to be a blogger and what it means to be a professional blogger (while not a full time blogger). Currently I write about my experiences as a father and husband. I also write about products that impact families and share pictures of family and everyday life.
How long have you been blogging?
Approximately 2.5 years.
How did you get started?
I got started blogging through reading the blog of a friend of mine – momof3girls – http://www.momof3girls.net/ – I loved how she shared experiences she was having with her family and thought that I could do something similar.
What kinds of products do you feature on your blog?
Lately I have been featuring many different types of books as well as other products and websites that impact families. I also have been outreaching to companies about other products that impact men or families in general.
What was your favourite giveaway?
I don’t know about this… I can say that my favorite review has been the Dyson vacuum that I was able to review.
Who does your blog appeal to?
men, women, families, parents
What direction do you see your blog going in the future?
I hope to be able to keep up with posting about family life as well as products and if possible make a little money for my family along the way. I have not been able to make much in blogging as of yet, but hope to in the future.
What is the biggest challenge you have faced so far with your blog?
Trying to balance personal life, professional life and blogging. I am still working to figure out the best balance in regards to this.
What do you love about blogging?
Having my voice heard as well as being able to share my struggles, thoughts and concerns in regards to life in general but also in regards to being and a parent, father, husband and friend.
Do you have a blogging pet peeve?
My biggest pet peeve in blogging is anonymous spam comments that I get on my blog. These comments made me switch from open comments to moderated comments.
Do you have any advice for the readers entering your giveaway? newbie review bloggers?
Because I am a newer giveaway blogger, some of my contests do not have huge numbers of individuals entering the contests, thus you have more opportunities to win and you can come back daily to enter again through tweets. Also come back again for future contests.
My advice for new review bloggers is to be honest in your reviews both for yourself and your readers. PR folks will be happy for your honesty. Also, don’t be afraid to ask if you know a product you would like to review.
