Did you know that every day over 3000 tons of paper towel waste in produced in the US? That’s an awful lot of paper waste! To make one ton of paper towels, 17 trees and 20,000 gallons of water are polluted. I never realized the significance of using a paper towel until doing my review for PeopleTowels. Some of the information I learned is staggering and really opened my eyes to reality. For instance, I didn’t know that decomposing paper towels produces methane gas (ewww!) which is one of the leading causes of global warming. I am glad that I am more aware now of my actions and the impact I can have on the environment.
PeopleTowels is the perfect and ecologically sound alternative to using a paper towel. You have zero waste with using a PeopleTowel! They have a nifty little equation on their site that says if you switch to using only PeopleTowels for one year you will save a 1/4 of a tree, reduce landfill waste by 23 lbs., and conserve 250 gallons of water. Could you imagine the enormous impact we would all make on our environment if everyone switched?
So what exactly is a PeopleTowel anyway? They are quick-drying, reusable personal hand towels made from lightweight, 100% organic, Fair Trade Cotton with unique designs. They are great because they are small and you can carry them in your purse to use to dry your hands after using public washrooms.
I received two sets of 3 PeopleTowels. I kept a set and gave John the other set to use at work. I keep one of them in my purse at all times to use when I am out and about. They are about the size of a facecloth and are thin like a dish cloth. I like that they are soft and have eco-chic designs. They do absorb water really easily and dry fast so you don’t have to put a wet cloth back in your purse. I am proud of myself for taking a step to help out the environment and am always looking for ways to make our home and lifestyle more ecofriendly. It’s the little things we do that really make the difference.
You can purchase PeopleTowels online and they come in sets of 3, sets of 5, single towels or create your own set. In fact, they are having a Valentine’s Day Special right now so you should check it out. They would make an excellent gift for someone you care about.
