The Freebie Fairy

Today I would like to welcome Cinde from The Freebie Fairy and Gluten Free Taste of Home. I had a chance to learn more about her blog and here’s what she had to say…

Please tell me about yourself.

My name is Cinde. I am a “forty something” year old wife and Mom. One of my children has Celiac Disease and another has Autism Spectrum Disorder so I spend a lot of time in the kitchen testing gluten free recipes. I work from home as a freelance writer and freelance PR & Marketing Director for various e-commerce businesses. I love writing children’s books that I hope will be published some time in the future. Prior to working from home, I was a stay at home Mom for 10 years. I worked in the beauty and retail industries for
many years before having children. I live on a peaceful 5 acres in the Washington countryside, but I grew up in the busy city of Los Angeles. In addition to writing, I enjoy reading, gardening, baking, and scrapbooking.

Please tell me about your blog.

I am the author of two blogs…

My Freebie Fairy giveaway & product review blog features a broad spectrum of great products. My Gluten Free Taste of Home blog focuses on gluten free comfort food recipes from my country kitchen, giveaways and product reviews.

How long have you been blogging?

Believe it or not I have only been blogging for about 8 months. Strangely, it feels like I have been at it for years!

How did you get started?

When I was searching for gluten free recipes online, I landed on some great gluten free blogs. I felt inspired to start my own blog to help others find great gluten free recipes, and Gluten Free Taste of Home was born.

What kinds of products do you feature on your blog?

On The Freebie Fairy, I host giveaways for anything that I think is worth talking about. I try everything myself before sharing my opinions with my readers. Some past giveaways on the Freebie Fairy include: Cosmetics, small kitchen appliances, food items, books, stationery, calendars, linens, DVD’s, holiday decor items, and much more.
Gluten Free Taste of Home  is where I review and host giveaways for gluten free foods and gluten free
cookbooks.

What was your favourite giveaway?

That is a tough question, but I would have to say it was for the Slanket (the original blanket with sleeves). My Freebie Fairy readers went nuts for the Slanket! It was my most popular giveaway to date. I guess it just proves that everyone likes to be cozy. 🙂

Who does your blog appeal to?

The Freebie Fairy mainly appeals to women and families of all ages, although I have had at least one male
winner. 😉
Gluten Free Taste of Home appeals to anyone following a gluten free diet.

What direction do you see your blog going in the future?

I like the direction my blogs are going now. My goal is to continue keeping my content interesting, fun, and exciting. My main goal is to get the word out to as many people as possible about my blogs! I truly love sharing prizes and recipes with as many people as possible… it makes me extremely happy! 🙂

What is the biggest challenge you have faced so far with your blog?

The biggest challenge I have faced so far is increasing traffic to my blog. I would love to have as many people as possible visit my blogs and enter my giveaways everyday… it’s very exciting!

What do you love about blogging?

I have been a writer since I was very young, it is my true passion. Blogging gives me a continual outlet for my writing. I also love hosting giveaways. It is the greatest feeling giving people prizes and brightening up their day when they find out they have won something! I also love the wonderful community of bloggers that I have met. I feel like I have “friends” practically everywhere in the United States now. 🙂

Do you have a blogging pet peeve?

I only really have one blogging pet peeve; technical problems when composing a post. I am a creative person, but not very “techno-savvy” so sometimes I run into snags on the computer that take me ages to figure out. It has been quite a learning experience!

Do you have any advice for the readers entering your giveaway? newbie review
bloggers?

My advice for readers entering my giveaway is try to enter using both the mandatory and all of the bonus entries. Often times after Random.org chooses my winner, I find that there was someone who entered several times, yet the person just below them was chosen winner! I always think “Wow, if they just would have completed one more bonus entry they would have won!”.

The other piece of advice I have for my readers is to read the giveaway  entry instructions very carefully. Many times people forget to leave their e-mail addresses, or don’t become my follower prior to entering (which is mandatory), or they don’t enter a separate comment for each entry. All of these things lessen their chances of winning.

My advice for newbie review bloggers is to contact as many product companies as possible. Be prepared for a lot of rejection in the beginning, but don’t let it get you down. Many companies do respond! I recommend keeping a journal with a page for each giveaway. Log the company name, contact persons name and e-mail address, and correspondence dates and content. I refer to mine constantly. These references become invaluable when you have dozens of prospects going at one time.

Tell me some of your favourite blogs that you read.

My favorite giveaway blog is Simply Stacie . Seriously! You were a wonderful inspiration when I was developing ideas for The Freebie Fairy. I also like The Mommy Files, Amanda – A Stay at Home Mom’s Point of View, and 3 Garnet & 2 Sapphires.

Currently, my favorite gluten free blogs are Gluten Free Gobsmacked, Karina’s Kitchen, A Year of Slow Cooking, and Adventures of a Gluten Free Mom.

How can people find you?

Please stop by my blogs anytime!
