StoreHouse Foods Review
I have to admit that slaving away over a hot stove is not on the top of my to-do list. I have never really been much of a cook and prefer to serve simple and easy to prepare and clean up type of meals. I tend to turn the kitchen into a war zone after preparing dinner so to save myself the heartache, I look for meals that use as little kitchen supplies as possible, but are still nutritious and taste great.
StoreHouse Foods fits perfectly into my way of cooking. They offer instant and delicious gluten free meals that can be prepared in minutes just by adding water. If you do follow a gluten free diet (or even if you don’t), they are great to have around the house when you want to whip out a hot and nutritious meal for your family.
The gluten free meals have a multitude of benefits including being both portable and storable with a long shelf life, celiac safe and can be purchased individually or in bulk. I followed a gluten free diet for a long time because of my issues with chronic pain. StoreHouse Foods is the first company I have come across that makes easy instant meals that I actually am interested in eating. Some of the meals they offer include Pepper Steak with Rice, Garlic Mashed Potatoes and Bananas Foster. Yum!! Just looking over their product line has me salivating! I am no longer strictly following a gluten free diet, but I would still buy many of these meals just because they sound like they would delicious and are so convenient and easy to make. For those that are strictly following a gluten free diet, these meals are great to have around in case of emergency.
I received three meals from StoreHouse Foods to try out and give my opinion. We selected Black Bart Chili with Beans, Mashed Potatoes and Country Gravy with Turkey and Creamy Potato Cheddar Soup.
I made the Black Bart Chili with Beans first and couldn’t believe just how simple it was to make. Seriously. You only need to add boiling water, stir and leave it sit for about 10 to 12 minutes. You can make it right in the package or put it into another pot and then cover. The taste was unbelievable. It had just the right amount of kick and I was surprised just how good it was. This was John’s favourite out of the three meals. I liked the little pieces of meat in the chili and how tender they tasted. This is definitely one we would make again.
Next up was the Mashed Potatoes and Country Gravy with Turkeyand it’s prepared the same way as the chili by adding water. This one I don’t think I let the water get hot enough, because the meat was a wee bit tough. I am sure if I had let it sit longer and made the water hotter, it would have been completely soft. I guess I just was too hungry and couldn’t wait to eat it. Otherwise, it was really good and tasted like homecooked potatoes with gravy.
Finally, the Creamy Potato Cheddar Soup! This meal was MY favourite. Loved it! It had a lovely creamy, savoury taste that was delightful. John wasn’t as fond of it as me, but he is not a big fan of potato soup. I am so if you like potato soup, I am sure you will like this one.
I like that StoreHouse Foods have all natural ingredients and are super simple and extremely quick to prepare. They literally take hardly anytime at all. I would definitely buy their meals again and try out other entrees.
