Book Review | The Snowman’s Song by Marilee Joy Mayfield
December 14, 2009
This is Sadie’s 3rd Christmas and this is the first Christmas that I think she understands a little, what it is all about. When I unpacked the Christmas decorations she was excited to find all her Christmas books and DVDs that have been packed since last year. We have been reading the same ones over and over for about a month now so it was nice to receive a new one in the mail the other day.
We sat down to read The Snowman’s Song: A Christmas Story before bed one night. The story was written by Marilee Joy Mayfield and the bright beautiful pictures illustrated by Tracy La Rue Hohn. The book was quite long for a toddler but the illustrations were enough to keep her attention and she was able to point out familiar things and talk about them as we went page by page. I am excited for when we can dig it out next year when she will be able to listen to more of the story and enjoy that as much as the pictures. With over 36,000 copies sold, this beautiful, dreamy, inspirational book is the perfect holiday gift for your somebody special.
The book also comes with the story on CD so we were able to listen to it in the car. It is very relaxing to listen to because of the soft subtle music in the background and the soothing voice of the reader. It was a VERY quiet ride to town that day.
You can purchase the book at www.snowmanssong.com on sale now for $16.95. This year for every book purchased on their site, they will be giving away a book for an underprivileged family.
