Sid the Science Kid and Dive Olly Dive DVD Review

My daughter Bridget enjoys watching tv and is pretty particular about the types of shows she watches. For instance, she loves Max & Ruby on Treehouse, but does not like Thomas the Tank Engine. We don’t have PBS at our house so I was curious to see how she would respond to the three DVDs I received for review which are “Sid the Science Kid: Change Happens”, Sid the Science Kid: The Bug Club” and “Dive Olly Dive: Ship Shape Sub”.

Sid the Science Kid is an Emmy nominated series produced by The Jim Henson Company and KCET-LA. I remember watching Jim Henson shows when I was a little girl! The Sid the Science Kid DVDs follow the delightfully inquisitive boy, Sid, and his friends as they explore the great outdoors and answer questions kids may have about the natural world like why bees live in hives. Sid the Science Kid: Change Happens and Sid the Science Kid: The Bug Club were released nationwide on August 4 and contain four episodes from the hit TV show.
Dive Olly Dive is the Emmy nominated, 3-D animated underwater series that airs on PBS Sprout. We don’t get this channel either so this would be Bridget’s first time watching this show as well. It’s a show geared for preschoolers and follows Olly and Beth, two young underwater submarines in training. It also teaches kids about ocean life as well as important life lessons. The DVD has five episodes from the hit show.

Bridget enjoyed watching all the DVDs! They were very entertaining and she loved all the unique characters. It’s too bad we don’t get PBS because these would be shows she would enjoy watching. However, she can watch them on DVD so that is the next best thing and she can watch them more than once!
I liked that these programs teach kids interesting facts about the natural world and they come away learning something. I even learned a few things too! All 3 DVDs are distributed by NCircle Entertainment and retail for $12.99 each. If you have young kids, then you should check these shows out!
Disclosure: I was not financially compensated for this post. I received a sample of the product for review purposes. The opinions are my own, based on my personal experience with the product.
