Funky Monkey Snacks Review
My girls are somewhat picky eaters and it is a daily struggle to try to get them to make healthy food choices. With school starting now, I am looking for ways to include good, nutritious yet tasty snacks that they will actually eat. I’m happy to say that we have found a snack that they enjoy that is both nutritious and delicious- Funky Monkey Snacks
Funky Monkey Snacks are all natural, freeze dried fruit with no added sugar, preservatives, colours or flavours. They are also wheat-free, gluten-free and dairy-free so they are great for kids who have food allergies. They come in snack size 1 oz packages and contain 3 of the 4 recommended daily servings of fruit. Gone are the days of icky, chewy and rubbery freeze dried fruit since Funky Monkey Snacks are crispy and crunchy with great natural fruit flavour.
Funky Monkey Snacks are produced in Brazil using a proprietary process that freeze dries whole slices and large pieces of tropical fruit at their peak of freshness and flavour. They are also now certified organic! They come in four flavours:
- Bananamon (banana and cinnamon)
- Carnaval Mix (banana, pineapple, papaya and raisins)
- Jivealime (pineapple and lime juice)
- Purple Funk (banana and acai)
We had the chance to try out the four different flavours. I was skeptical at first since my girls are so picky and wondered if they would turn their noses up. However, they humoured me and tried them all out and they liked them! Bridget loved the Purple Funk the best and Olivia was partial to the Bananmon. My personal favourite was the Jivealime. I love pineapple and the flavour was amazing!
These snacks are way different from the freeze dried fruit I have eaten in the past which I am not fond of. They are crunchy and pack a big punch of fruit flavour You can really taste the fruit and they are not too sweet. I feel great feeding my kids snacks that are healthy and nutritious and most of all, that they enjoy eating. They are the perfect school lunch snack!
Funky Monkey Snacks are now available at Whole Foods Market, Winn Dixie, HyVee and other grocery stores as well as at Amazon.
