Bug & Pickle Review

Sisters, Kim (aka Bug) and Nicole (aka Pickle) wanted to combine a sense of fun along with practicality in their products for new moms and babies to make gift giving a delightful experience. Their new business, Bug & Pickle, is backed by their wealth of expertise in the world of personal care as both sisters own a spa in Vancouver, British Columbia. They are both ecstatic to finally have their dream come true of seeing their mom and baby products finally on the market and being happily enjoyed by moms and babies everywhere.

Bug & Pickle offers two types of product lines: Baby Maintenance and Mummy Maintenance. For baby items, they have vintage inspired blankets, baby butter, baby lotion, beeswax baby soap, head-to-toe baby wash, scalp oil, teething oil, tummy trouble and diaper gel. As for us moms, they have belly rub, belly firm, belly cream, nipple cream, hooter hiders (for nursing moms), and various gift packs.
You can purchase Bug & Pickle products from their online store, other online retailers or select retailers in the US and Canada. Visit their site to find a retailer near you.
I had the chance to review four products from the Bug & Pickle baby line: Baby Lotion, Baby Butter, Tummy Trouble and Teething Oil.
Bug & Pickle’s Baby Lotion smells awesome! I love that it’s scented naturally with the lavender, chamomile and orange essential oils. They have also infused it with extracts of green tea, aloe vera, shea butter and vitamin E. It contains 96% natural ingredients and no synthetic fragrances or colour and is gentle on sensitive skin. I loved this both as a lotion for my little niece and for myself. It’s non greasy formula works for me.

Bug & Pickle’s Baby Butter is great on dry or irritated patches of your baby’s skin. It smells just as wonderful as the baby lotion since it includes the same essential oils. It contains vegetable oils and beeswax which work wonders on their healing and soothing abilities. I used on my nieces bottom and it worked well and was very gentle. Another use for us moms is as a cuticle cream! Love these multi-use products! This one is priced at $16 Canadian (great for you US folks out there to save on the exchange!).

I also had Bug & Pickle’s Teething Oil to try out. This one uses the essential oil of Roman chamomile as an analgesic. I love that it is natural and babies love the sweet taste including my niece, Avery. It seemed to work well with her. It costs $14 Canadian.
And last but not least, I was also sent Bug & Pickle’s Tummy Trouble. This one uses the essential oils of dill and fennel to ease your newborn’s stomach upset caused by constipation or colic. It’s used differently than the traditional remedy of gripe water which your baby ingests. Tummy Trouble is actually massaged onto your baby’s abdomen in a clockwise motion. I don’t have a newborn to try it on, but I liked the fact that your baby doesn’t have to have it in his/her mouth for it to work. I was always leery about some of the ingredients in gripe water so this is another alternative for parents to try. It costs $14 Canadian.
Overall, I am impressed by Bug & Pickle’s products. I love that they use essential oils which are both natural, effective and smell great! The prices are reasonable and the selection is also top notch. I would definitely recommend Bug & Pickle to moms everywhere!
Bug & Pickle is offering my readers a 20% discount on all their products. The coupon code is stacie and it is valid until July 31, 2009.
