My Facebook newsfeed is full of my friends’ and family’s New Year’s resolutions. People are pledging to eat better, stress less and exercise more. I think sharing what you plan to do helps make you accountable. I’ve made my own set of resolutions – both personal and business related. 2017 is going to be a great year. I can just feel it! I want to look and feel my best this year. How about you?
The holidays were full of many late nights and way too much food. Though I’m not complaining because it’s all good. It’s the holidays and I gave myself permission to indulge a little. Now that we are getting back to a routine again, it’s time to make some changes. January is the perfect time to commit to new habits and to get back on track.
Here are some daily tips on things you can do to look and feel great in 2017.
1. Stay hydrated. Did you know that experts say that drinking water can help prevent dehydration-induced wrinkles? I struggle with getting the required amount of water on a daily basis. One thing I’m doing this year is set reminders on my phone to remind myself to fill up my glass every few hours. Hopefully, it will be come second nature and I won’t have to do that anymore.
There’s also apps for your phone to help you keep track of your water intake. Do a quick search and grab one to use if you think it will help you be more accountable.
If you are a pop drinker, now is the time to swap it out. Drink water instead. Your body will thank you!
2. Stay moisturized. I use both a facial and body moisturizer to keep my skin soft and smooth. Even though I have oily facial skin, I still moisturize. I find it helps to keep the oil under control and make my face less oily.
As for the rest of my body, the cold, dry winter air really takes it toll on my skin. I use a moisturizer after each shower to keep my skin looking and feeling its best.
Try the Dermal Therapy line of moisturizers to help restore your skin’s moisture with elements similar to those found naturally in healthy skin. Their special formulations contain urea, which is an important part of your skin’s natural moisturizing system and is found in healthy young skin. Dermal Therapy contains silk amino acids, which can improve skin tone and lustre, giving skin a silky, smooth, non-greasy feel.
3. Get enough sleep. Easier said than done, right? Strive to get at least 6 hours sleep every night. If you get less than six hours sleep, it could be affecting your appearance and you may notice wrinkles, dark circles or puffy eyes in the morning. For me, my eyes get super puffy and dark when I don’t sleep well. It’s not a pretty sight.
In addition, not getting enough sleep can even change your facial expressions as you are more likely to furrow your brow and frown when you are tired. All the more reasons to ensure you are getting an adequate amount of shut eye!
One tip is to set an alarm for bed time and again for when you need to wake up in the morning. Use this approach to make sure you get to bed early enough each night. I’ve trained myself to get to bed by 1030pm each night and I’m up at 6 am. I love the quiet, peaceful mornings before the kids get up!
4. Enjoy more good hair days. In the winter, we tend to hide our hair under hats and scarves. Now is the time to start thinking about your spring hair. PRIORIN® is a supplement that supplies the hair with millet extract, the amino acid L-cystine and promote hair growth and hair re-growth. It also contains the nutrient biotin, which helps to maintain healthy hair. Take two capsules daily with food for 3 to 6 months.
Make taking your supplements part of your breakfast or lunch routine. I use a pill organizer to help me keep track. I’d be lost without it!
