Lavender Bath Melts

My new hobby these days is making my own DIY beauty products. They are fun to create and I love to share them with my family and friends. I’ve kept some for myself, of course, but I’ve given a ton away. My cousin, Allison, often comes over to help me make them and I end up sending her home with a bag of goodies to try. We made these Lavender Bath Melts together. I was so pleased at how great they turned out!

You’ll need three ingredients plus a silicone mold to prepare these beauties. I purchased my cocoa butter and almond oil via Amazon. I already had the lavender essential oil on hand and the silicone mold I picked up at Michael’s a few years back for Valentine’s day.

To use, simply add a bath melt to your bath water and sit back and relax. I find lavender such a calming scent. My cousin said that even her 13 year old son uses them in his baths. I’m glad he’s enjoying them!

This recipe makes between 10 and 13 bath melts. It will depend on the size of your silicone mold. Mine was fairly small so this batch had 13.

    1. I love the smell of lavender. These would make a nice Christmas. Pinning for later 🙂

    2. I’m an Esthetician and these will be great Christmas gifts for my clients. I’m going to make them as soon as my supplies get here. Thanks!

    3. Stacie, I’m visiting from Create with Joy. Thanks for the inspiration. I saved your DIY project to try at a later time. Have a joyous Christmas season!

    4. These would make a wonderful gift to give for the holidays. I have some lavender essential oils and now I can do something different with it. Thanks for sharing your recipe on Merry Monday. Pinned.

    5. These look lovely, but what happens to the oil left in the tub? Does it stick to the sides? Does it clog the drain?

      1. No, mine didn’t clog the drain. I just rinsed out the tub like I normally would.

    6. I followed the recipient but they didn’t solidify enough and started to melt as soon as handled.
I’m trying again but adding some beeswax this time…

      1. I’m sorry to hear that! I’ve made them several times and never had a problem. Let me know if you try them with the beeswax and how they turn out.

        1. You don’t add water in with the oil right? it’s just the three ingredients, correct?

    7. I’ve never tried making any of my own soaps or bath melts. Sounds really fun!

    8. I love the idea of bath melts too, but this sounds like  slippery mess in the tub! I prefer to include an emulsifier in my bath melts, so the oil disperses properly in the bath and goes right down the drain without leaving any gross residue. Maybe you should update your recipe, take a look at this one.

    9. I use a combo of mango butter, coconut butter and shea butter, they are amazing!
