Peter Cottontail DVD Review & Giveaway (US)

My boys love holiday-themed movies. We have fun picking out special DVDs to watch depending on the time of year. With spring around the corner and Easter coming up quick, my boys and I were excited to watch the original TV classic Peter Cottontail on DVD from Dreamworks Classics.

Peter Cottontail DVD Review

Peter Cottontail is a Rankin & Bass Production that really has a classic movie feel (think Santa Claus Is Coming To Town, Rudolph The Red-Nosed Reindeer, and other Christmas TV classics). It features the voices of Danny Kaye, Vincent Price and Casey Kasem as the bunnies of April Valley. The movie follows the quest of young Peter Cottontail as he tries to defeat his rival, the evil Irontail, on his quest to become Chief Easter Bunny.

Both of my boys enjoyed this movie, as did my husband and I – it really brought back nice childhood memories of watching this special on TV growing up. The story is appropriate for all ages. My four-year-old really got into the story and rooted for Peter on his quest to deliver the most eggs in April Valley. My 22-month-old loved the Santa cameo and was mesmerized by the “old-time” graphics. The movie really got both my boys excited for spring and Easter. At a running time of 50 minutes, it’s great for young children – just short enough to keep their attention! There are a lot of catchy tunes and the animation is really fun. It really is a sweet movie with a happy ending that families can enjoy together.

Peter Cottontail is available for purchase online at Amazon.
