Book Review | Bad to the Bone by Jeri Smith Ready

Bad to the Bone by Jeri Smith-ReadyTitle: Bad to the Bone

Author: Jeri Smith-Ready

My Review:

Bad to the Bone is the second book in the WVMP series by Jeri Smith-Ready in which a small group of vampires DJ in the middle of the night to keep from fading away. Ciara Griffin is the newest addition to the WVMP family, and the girlfriend of Shane, the DJ for the ‘90s show.

WVMP is going stronger than ever since Ciara came on board and helped the dying station boost its ratings. But trouble hits the station once again when a religious group attempts to take over their airwaves. As if that were not enough for her to deal with, Ciara’s best friend, Lori, is seeing a vampire named Travis, and Shane is pressuring Ciara to take their relationship to the next level.

The focus of Bad to the Bone is definitely relationships. Ciara is slowly learning now to let someone stay in her life as more than just a fling, and Shane is dealing with his own familial problems when he decides to make contact with his human family who know nothing about his undead status. There is also some sexual tension between David and Ciara, which made me realize that I approved more of Ciara and Shane together than I’d initially realized. Finally, there are some pretty huge reveals about Ciara’s past that I did not see coming. I’m eagerly waiting to see how she deals with the new information in the next books in the series.

I recommend the WVMP series if you have read virtually every other vampire novel there, and are looking for a new take on vampires. I love the radio station setting, Ciara’s fascinating upbringing in cult-like circumstances, and the newest addition to WVMP’s family–a vampiric dog named Dexter. There is truly never a dull moment at WVMP!

I have never read a supernatural book other the the twilight and harry potter but i enjoyed those so need to find some more good super natural reads..thanks for sharing

  6. I have seen this series mentioned in a few other places, but have not yet tried it. I am in a sampling mode for paranormal books. There are so many different worlds, each with their own rules, and a wide variety of creatures whose characteristics vary depending on the author. I’ll be giving this series a try once I catch up on some of the paranormals I have, but haven’t read yet. Thanks for the review.

  7. Jo-Ann Brightman says:
