Just before Christmas, my daughter, Bridget, received an extra special delivery that had her grinning from ear to ear. It was three Mega Bloks set for Barbie fans like her including Mega Bloks Barbie Build ‘n Style Luxury Mansion (ARV $89.99 CAD), Mega Bloks Barbie Build ‘n Style Fashion Stand (ARV $12.99 CAD) and Mega Bloks Barbie Build ‘n Style Ice Cream Cart (ARV $12.99 CAD).
Bridget plays with Barbies and even has a few of my dolls that I played with when I was a little girl (I was a HUGE Barbie fan). She also enjoys construction and building things and will often help John with some of the easier tasks of our home renovations. There’s really not much selection for girls in terms of constructions seta so I was very excited to see this new line from Mega Bloks. It fits Bridget’s interests perfectly.
Bridget wanted to get started immediately setting up her new toys. She asked me which one she should start with and I said try the smaller ones first just in case it was too hard for her. She plopped herself down on the living room floor and assembled the Build ‘n Style Ice Cream Cart. It has 74 pieces and is geared towards age 4+. It also comes with Sweet Scoops Barbie™ and fashion accessories. She completed it all within an hour or two and proudly showed me her work. I was amazed at how quiet she was doing it. She was really concentrating!
Right away she said she wanted to do the other two sets. She spent an entire afternoon setting up the Build ‘n Style Fashion Stand and Build ‘n Style Luxury Mansion.
The Build ‘n Style Fashion Stand has 107 pieces and includes Boutique Barbie™ and fashion accessories while the Build ‘n Style Luxury Mansion has 301 pieces. Both are geared to ages 4+.
Even her 14 year old sister, Olivia, wanted to help and worked with her to assemble the mansion.
The Build ‘n Style Luxury Mansion is really something! It features 8 interchangeable rooms that you can build anyway you want. It even has a working elevator! It comes with Fab Girl™ Barbie™ and Teresa™mini-fashion figures. This was the biggest of the three sets and of course, it was Bridget’s favourite one. It’s quite elaborate.
What I loved was seeing how proud she was to have set up all three sets without an adult help.
Now that it’s built, Bridget wants to play with the dolls and their new quarters. When she is bored with the set up, she can take it apart and rebuild it again and set it up differently. I want to get her more of the mini fashion figures to add to her collection. There are 19 in total that you can collect.
