Evenflo JourneyLite Select Travel System Review

Just before my daughter was born my husband and I went out to buy a travel system.  We were immediately lost and didn’t really know what to look for.  We ended up with a fairly high end travel system that was on sale and it has worked well for us in some ways and not so much in others.  It’s great for walks in our neighbourhood but both pieces are heavy and bulky.  Getting the stroller in either of our cars even when folded is a task best left avoided.

There is something to be said for having a stroller for different situations so I was excited at the chance to try the Evenflo JourneyLite Select Travel System. The JourneyLite Stroller is incredibly lightweight – we noticed the difference immediately after assembling it.  The best part about this stroller is that although it is lightweight it has all the features a parent needs in a stroller.  Features I can’t live without such as the parents console including a cup holder and covered tray as well as a huge cargo basket.

I also appreciate the extra big canopy on the JourneyLite stroller, it is remarkably larger and sturdier than the one on my old stroller.  When used with the Embrace Car Seat I found the two canopy’s actually came together properly to give proper coverage over baby.  This is something my old travel system does not do and it has been a point of frustration for me so this felt like a major breakthrough.  The canopy on the stroller also features a large peek-a-boo window.

When using the stroller without the car seat you have the option of using a 5-point restraint for babies unable to sit unsupported or a 3-point restraint for sitting babies.  While our daughter is now able to sit unsupported and only needs the 3-point restraint, the 5-point restraint would have been wonderful for use when she needed support.  A 5-point restraint is a safe and secure way of allowing curious babies to see the world around them.  The stroller seat is also a multi-position recline via a strap adjuster so baby can have a view of the world and then lay back for a nap when needed.

Folding and unfolding the stroller is also a cinch, although at first it took a few attempts for me to remember to undo the fold latch when trying to unfold the stroller.  Now that I remember every time it takes literally seconds and I can do it one handed which is important when I don’t have help.

I found the stroller was easy to steer and rode smoothly as well which we all appreciated. Guess what?  It also fits in both of our cars which means we can actually travel with it.

The Embrace Infant Car Seat comes with a stay-in-car adjustable base which is incredibly time saving.  Once the car base is installed it is simple to get baby in and out of the car without the hassle of installing the car seat each time.  It also features belt guides so you can use the car seat without the base which is a handy feature when a certain someone goes off with the base still installed in their car.

I love that the level adjustment indicator is on the base rather than the Car seat itself.  It is something so simple you might not think about it, but it is ridiculous trying to level a car seat base when the indicator is on the car seat itself.

I think the lightweight part of it is the best. I remember when my son was little and I had him in the carrier and had to carry him in the store or something. I would about die because it was so heavy!! And pushing the stroller around ended up being a workout in itself!! He was my first so I didn’t realize how important lightweight would be.. I know now!

I’m always looking for honest, good reviews on strollers and carriers; I have to purchase one soon and frankly, the information out there and product available is daunting and overwhelming. Thank you for the recommendation!

I am ashamed to admit that being a veteran mom i still have problems folding and unfolding strollers so when I read that the evenflo journey lite select makes folding & unfolding a cinch. I knew that this is the perfect one for my pregnant niece. —– Paul T/Pauline T aka Paol Trenny ….. emscout9 at Hotmail dot com

What a great looking stroller! I still have trouble folding/unfolding all of our baby strollers after 2.5 years and 2 babies later!

Wow! This looks like the cadillac of strollers. LOL! My daughter wants a stroller like this when she has kids. She like the carseat that goes with the stroller. That’s a pretty one too. Cute little girl you got there :)

this looks like a great travel system. I recently purchased a travel system for my baby boy and spent a ton of money. I mean a ton! and even though i thought that the prize would match the qualities, i don’t’ think it does! IT’s not lightweight so I can’t go out by myself with my 3 month old baby boy, i cannot carry the car seat! and go up the stairs with it? impossible! He’s also not comfortable in the car seat, he always cries. I’ll definitely look into this one and getting it and hopefully i’ll have a better experience :) thanks for your review!

Thanks so much for an honest review… I have gotten a travel system in the past that was super heavy, cumbersome… and completely too large for my hybrid…ugh…and the seat never fits in there well so we had to spend even more to get a seat that I felt more comfortable with…I wish I had seen this review or had one like this to go by!

This is the same situation my wife and i were in when we had our son. We bought this nice travel system but the stroller was incredibly heavy. We didn’t use it very much after we bought one of those car seat stroller frames. It was the best purchase every. So light weight and all you do is pop out the car seat and plug it into the frame. Needless to say if we ever have more kids i will not be buying another travel system.

I just bought this system 2 hours ago and hope it is all that is mentioned in your review. I give birth in 2 weeks and will keep you posted on whether or not i like it. So far I like how light it is since i was able to carry it from Walmart with my huge pregnant tummy by myself.

I own this stroller and I love it but I don’t know how to get the 5 point restraint on the stroller and the manual doesn’t tell you either. Does anyone have any info they want to share on how to use it? I don’t know where the shoulder straps are or where they would connect. Please help! My daughter is to big for the car seat and can’t fully sit up on her own yet (she’s only 5 months but very long)
