So it’s well into the New Year now. Are you still sitting there wondering how to start your weight loss journey? If you need a push in the right direction, The Diet Dropout’s Guide to Natural Weight Loss by Stan Spencer, PhD, is a good start.
This a quick and easy to read book. The format is easy to follow, with none of the big technical words that can often intimidate the new healthy reader. I enjoyed the pace of the book and the “beginners” information used. This is a great book for people that need a starting place in their journey to a healthier lifestyle.
The way the author talks is not patronizing and condescending. He lists the facts of why people are overweight and has real life solutions to help in weight loss, exercise and cravings. I thoroughly enjoyed the visual activities to help control cravings. I have a weakness for chocolate. I also have a weakness for wanting to look good. I tried one of the activities to control my craving for chocolate the other day…..and it worked. I walked away from the temptation, and felt that much better for it.
There are quick easy to follow recipes in the back of the book “for people who don’t like to cook, or who like to cook but don’t have much time.” I tried the “Vegetables in Fried Eggs” and loved it. It may just become my new “go to” meal, when I don’t have a lot of time, but still want a quick healthy meal.
Overall, if you are just starting on your road to a new you and are overwhelmed by all the diet books out there, this is a great beginning to a healthier life.
