Footsteps2Brilliance Review & Giveaway (WW)

As a home educating mom of three young children I am always excited to learn about new educational resources, however not all live up to our expectations. Therefore, I am delighted to introduce you to Footsteps2Brilliance™ which has far exceeded my original expectations and is currently a regular part of our daily school routine.

Footsteps2Brilliance™ is an award-winning app that was designed for children in Pre-K through the 2nd grade. Created by educators, this program curriculum is both educational and entertaining so it engaged my children from the start. The program focuses on vocabulary acquisition, reading comprehension, creativity and even has the option of multiple-choice test taking skills.

Additional educational features of Footsteps2Brilliance™ include:

  • Inclusion of 1,000 words children need to learn to master reading and writing
  • Auditory support and rhyming to help with reading fluency

What makes Footsteps2Brilliance™ such an exceptional program? It has a virtual library of 18 illustrated e-books and 200+ interactive games such as Mighty Match and Word Wall to reinforce the concepts learned within each book. There are three levels of game play for independent learning and for bilingual children there is an English/Spanish switch on every page so the student can read in either language. It also features a “Create-a-Book” feature that is a big hit with all three of my children. The vibrant e-books are very engaging with interesting storylines, interactive animation and music which my kids love.

Footsteps2Brilliance™ is perfect for homeschooling families, teachers, for children who love to use digital technology for learning and for those children who may need additional support at home to promote successful reading and writing skills.

My children use this program almost every day either as a Kindle app or on the computer. They select an e-book of their choice from the library and then have each page of the book read to them (my younger two children) or read the book aloud (my eldest child). With the click of the computer mouse or a simple touch of the app the various illustrations become animated and “life-like” which is a favorite feature with my children. After the story is finished, my children select “Book Buddies” which asks a series of questions about the book. If my children answer the questions correctly they “earn” 10-15 of game play (game play on the game can be done at any time but I choose to have them work for it as an incentive). Then, they can also work on their Create-a-Book story a bit every day.

I love that Footsteps2Brilliance™ is a very comprehension educational program that can be done anywhere. For example, when we recently went from Florida to Ohio on vacation, the kids were able to use this program in the car and/or while waiting at restaurants.

The Footsteps2Brilliance™ app is available for access via any smart device such as Kindle Fires, iPhones, iPads, Android Phones and Tablets, Nexus Tablets and traditional computer. The app is very user friendly for children and parents and I love that there I receive “Parent Reports” so that I can track my children’s progress and create lessons that focus on their strengths/weaknesses.

Overall, I am extremely impressed with the educational content of this app and my children enjoy learning more than ever by playing. I have noticed that my five year old son is much more motivated by his daily reading lesson when I include Footsteps2Brilliance™ in our curriculum.

The Footsteps2Brilliance™ app can be accessed through any smart device, including iPhones, iPads, Android phones and tablets, Kindle Fires, Google Nexus tablets and traditional computers.

I wasn’t aware that 88% of the children who start out with poor literacy skills are likely to remain poor readers and ultimately fail in school. This makes me sad! Our school can only do so much. I personally believe teaching begins at home!

  2. nikki krutz says

46% is a big percentage of kids starting school already behind. i pulled my 4 yr old out of her 2nd yr of preschool because they are not teaching her the necessary things that would prepare her for kindergarten. and they kept saying “she’s right where she should be”. she’s not even close! she should know how to sing her abc’s and until i pulled her out 2 weeks ago she couldn’t. we have signed up for and this would be something else that i would love to try with her and start working with my 2 yr old son on.

  3. caryn s says

i learned that 88% of kids start school with poor literacy skills! That is a huge amount of kids that are at risk of failing before they even start!
