Are you in the “Kno”? I wasn’t until very recently when I learned about this fun and engaging digital textbook app aptly titled, Kno! It’s geared towards kids from as young as kindgergarten and all the way up to to Grade 12. I have two school aged daughters. Bridget is going into Grade 3 and Olivia is going into Grade 9 and I think both of them could greatly benefit from this educational app.
What is Kno?
Kno is a digital textbook that allows your kids to learn about the core subjects, but in a fun and engaging way. You simply select the grade level (Kindergarten to Grade 12) and a list of available textbooks will pop up. For instance, for Grade 3, I have a choice of three books: Go Math!, Great Source Write Source and SCIENCE FUSION. At Olivia’s grade 9 level, there’s a choice of 20 books.
Kno is Interactive
These aren’t just plain ol’ textbooks. What makes them different is that they are INTERACTIVE with these key features:
- A digital Journal that automatically saves a student’s notes and highlights them in a study notebook
- Automatic Flash Cards of key terms in a book to help students study more efficiently and better retain information
- 3D models that bring difficult chemistry concepts to life to make them easier to understand
- Quiz Me feature, which automatically turns any diagram in a book into a multiple choice quiz for easy self-quizzing before tests
- SmartLinks that deliver instructional videos, images, and photos to formulas and concepts in a textbook in real-time for easy reference
- Coming soon, an analytics feature that will enable active engagement between parents and students to better measure reading progress.
