My favorite website for learning resources is RockNLearn.com. My children who are ages 4, 5 and 6 are consistently engaged with a great selection of the highest quality, interactive learning DVDs and CDs. The educational concept behind Rock ‘N Learn may be simple but it is also very effective in teaching preschool, math, reading, science, social studies, languages and test prep. By using music in conjunction with educational materials, children are better able to learn the concepts and retain the information.
We recently had the opportunity to view the latest DVD title from RockNLearn.com. Letter Sounds was created for beginners who are learning to read using the phonics method. It introduces children to learning letter sounds, reading words, consonant combinations and reading sentences. All three of my children are at different reading skills levels but were able to fully participate in interacting while watching this DVD.
I enjoyed watching them get excited and their confidence soar when they were able to say the letter sounds along with the characters, play the interactive games as they try to “beat the clock” and read common sight words and basic sentences. The songs are catchy with their favorite on this title being, “The New Alphabet Song.”
Rock ‘N Learn is an effective, affordable way to help children learn about a variety of subjects while incorporating music to reinforce the concepts being taught. I have watched the effects and outcome of our Rock ‘N Learn DVD’s with my own children and it really works! You can view the entire collection of over 50 titles in the Rock ‘N Learn library and find the perfect title for your own child or students. You can purchase Rock ‘N Learn online at their website, Barnes and Noble, teacher supply stores or at specialty stores.
Rock ‘N Learn also has free websites to help supplement learning and you can download worksheets for phonics, math and our personal favorite, Marko the Pencil™ which has lots of fun, free activities in various subjects!
