Holiday Gift Guide | Putumayo Kids Review & Giveaway (US)

I love to expose my three young children to music and stories of other cultures around the world. We have often enjoyed listening to musical CDs together from the award winning Putumayo Kids. In these exciting musical journeys, my little ones are able to use their imaginations to go “around the world” and explore Africa, France, Latin America and more.

We are currently enjoying two new Putumayo Kids CD’s including Acoustic Dreamland and Celtic Christmas. The musical compilation on both of these CD’s is exceptional with beautiful vocals and lovely instrument arrangements.

Acoustic Dreamland ($14.98) is the 5th CD in the Dreamland series and I find these beautiful lullabies to be very relaxing and soothing not just for little ones but for the grownups too, especially after a hectic, busy day. We enjoy listening to this CD in the late afternoon or early evening while quietly doing crafts, coloring or simply cuddling together. I especially enjoy the songs, “My Father’s Waltz” by Hem and “In the Land of Dreams” by Kesang Marstrand. It is easy for me to understand why this CD is a Parent’s Choice Award Winner because it is the best lullaby CD that I have ever listened to and with three children ages 4, 5 and 6 we have listened to a lot of lullaby CDs over the years!

Celtic Christmas is a delightful selection of Celtic music from Ireland, Scotland, England, Canada and the United States. From the first song, “Here We Come A-Wassailing” by the Albion Christmas Band my family was singing, tapping our feet and even dancing to the music. I love the use of traditional Celtic instruments and this uplifting CD is going to be played a lot in our house throughout the Christmas season. The voices are so pretty and enchanting and the songs are a wonderful compilation of Celtic music.

I am a homeschooling mom and love that Putumayo Kids has expanded their collection to include unique and creative books that further expand our ability to learn about different cultures from around the world. My children were immediately drawn to the Africa Coloring Book ($9.95) which is oversized and has engaging, captivating images that are printed with eco-friendly soy ink for the children to color. There are lots of fun facts included in this book such as a glossary, drawing captions and even a colorful map to teach my children more about the animals, instruments and people of Africa. I have used this coloring book as part of our geography class and it has been a hit with my children as they meticulously color each page.

The World Culture Collection from Putumayo Kids is very impressive and even includes Sticker Books featuring Latin America, Europe and Africa.

You are invited to visit the Putumayo Kids website to learn more about all of the products available for a “World of Gift Ideas” that is sure to be a hit with children of all ages.
