Holiday Gift Guide | My Monster Burrufu Review & Giveaway (US & Can)

My six year old son is very proud that with a little help from me, he was able to read his first full-length chapter book. My Monster Burrufu by Alberto Corral is a fun story about a seven year old girl named Olivia who moves into a new house and then befriends the lonely monster named Burrufu who already lives there. My son loved reading this book about overcoming your fears and the power of friendship. While it is full of exciting adventures, I appreciate that it is also subtly teaching about important values too. The delightful illustrations by Alessandra Sorrentino helped to make this book more enjoyable and less overwhelming for Adam in his first attempt to read a chapter book by himself. The story itself is creative and imaginative and my son literally didn’t want to put it down. Even my younger children who are ages 4 and 5 sat captivated as my son re-told the story to them in his own words.

My Monster Burrufu is a wonderful and heart-warming tale for children of all ages and would make a delightful holiday gift idea or stocking stuffer.
