I have been a big fan of the family operated online store, Little One Books, for over a year because it is a wonderful resource for children’s books, music and DVD’s. This online treasure was created by two grandparents who had become overwhelmed with the vast assortment of children’s media. Their solution was to create an online store that helps guide you to the right products for any child based on their age so you can feel confident that your selection is age appropriate.
I really appreciate and value that every single product available at Little One Books has been personally reviewed by their team which includes child development professionals prior to offering the item for purchase. The “Why We Chose” section is a particularly helpful and unique website feature because it gives detailed information about why they have recommended a particular title in their store.
If you are shopping for children’s books, music and videos (DVDs) for the holidays then I highly recommend checking out the selection available at Little One Books. There are many different options available and I would like to introduce you to several of my personal holiday favorites.
In the holiday book offerings, The Christmas Magic ($16.99 hardcover edition) by Lauren Thompson is a beautiful story that really captures the wonder of the Christmas season. I love that it creatively follows Santa as he is getting ready for the “big night”. The illustrations by Jon J. Muth brilliantly captures the warmth and spirit of the holidays and I especially love the depiction of Santa darning his socks by the fire as his favorite reindeer is curled up nearby. My three children ages 4, 5 and 6 sat wide-eyed and quiet as I read The Christmas Magic aloud to them. It is a perfect holiday bedtime story because it is such a calming book and an excellent way to escape the hustle and bustle of the holidays if only for a few precious minutes.
If you know a child who loves music then you will definitely want to browse the CDs available at Little One Books. For a new holiday CD, I selected “A Folk Song Christmas” ($15) in order to introduce my children to folk and bluegrass songs and instruments such as the banjo, fiddle, guitar, flute and many more. This is one holiday CD that can be enjoyed by the entire family and I absolutely love the renditions of “Mary Had a Baby” and “God Rest Ye Merry Gentleman”. “A Folk Song Christmas” is joyous and it is sure to get everyone moving as my own children (and even my husband) were dancing around the room and singing. The vocals in this CD are exceptional, the unique arrangements are pleasing and interesting and overall this is wonderful album to celebrate the holiday season.
Is there a more wondrous Christmas Eve tale then “The Night Before Christmas”? This wonderful classic story has been adapted into a magical re-telling in “The Night Before Christmas” which is currently available on DVD at Little One Books. It features the voice of Academy Award®-winning actor, Kevin Kline and is a holiday favorite that can be enjoyed by the entire family. I was very impressed with the stunning CGI animation and my children love the animated show and their newest favorite character, Gregory, “a very curious little mouse”. At only $5.98, this is such an affordable DVD and would make a great stocking stuffer or Christmas Eve gift to enjoy with your little ones.
Little One Books has something special for every child on your shopping list. I love how easy it is to navigate their website and I always uncover at least one gem that I have never seen before when I am browsing online. I am passionate about exposing my children to a wide variety of books, music and movies and I am thankful to have a wonderful resource like Little One Books to help me find the best media available at affordable prices. The customer service can’t be beaten either.
