Title: Scampi the Scallop
Author: Mi-sA-lê Fransen
My Review:
I was drawn initially to this children’s book about a scallop named Scampi, because I grew up in an area of Florida that is world famous for our scallop grounds. I wanted to share my love for these neat creatures with my own children. This illustrated children’s book is a delightful story for children and was a good book for my six year old son who is a beginning reader. He read Scampi the Scallop aloud to his younger siblings with a bit of help from me for the more challenging words. All three children were intrigued by this story about how Scampi was able to face adversity head on in this exciting adventure. I spent many joyful summers in the Gulf of Mexico observing the behavior of scallops and the depiction in this book is quite realistic especially with the illustrations helping to give children a glimpse of life undersea.
Scampi the Scallop is available for purchase at Tate Publishing for only $8.99 or as a digital download for only $7.99.

Being afraid can be a booster of inovation. Scampi was spurred to greater strength than he thought he had. So shall I survive out on the ocean. When it’s not scary, it’s fantastic. Thanks for all the comments.
It seems like a cute and great way of teaching children (and adults) about the ecological dangers that exist in our world. I had no idea that the scallops were in danger in Australia, so it looks like everyone can learn something from it!
I discover that the survival of the scallop industry in Australia is pending on the sincere commitment of all players connected in the industry. From the government and middlemen, down to the fishermen out on their boats. Unfortunately there is no intention from government to put the interest of the scallop industry at the top.
