Book Review & Giveaway | Invisible Isabelle (US)

Title:Invisible Isabelle

Author: Wendy Sefcik

About the book:

Isabelle has a VERY unique style. She is a young, aspiring fashion designer and creates a funky new outfit for the first day of school. At school, she is made fun of and bullied by her classmates for being different. Isabelle is hurt by her classmates’ name calling. To avoid further embarrassment, she changes her appearance to “blend in” and look “normal.” After one too many changes, she loses herself expression and becomes…. INVISIBLE!

My Review:

This children’s book that was written and illustrated by Wendy Sefcik is so relevant for the challenges that many of our youngsters are sadly facing in today’s society. Seven year old Isabelle’s charming personality and individuality is refreshing and endearing. My three little ones were very empathetic when the other children were making fun of Isabelle’s style and it was the perfect avenue for us to have a discussion about bullying and teasing. I appreciate that this book promotes self acceptance and the beauty of individuality. The illustrations are colorful, fun, quirky, artistic and engaging….my children loved it! The book teaches children a valuable lesson and I can only hope that my own kids never decide to conform and become “invisible.”
