I have had the pleasure to use the water based Mediflow pillow. Although this pillow is not something I would have gone out and purchased, I hope this review accurately gives you the pros and cons of this product.
You can go to their website to read any other reviews and read clinical studies etc. My opinion would only matter to you, if you tend to have the same issues I had with the pillow.
Let’s go over the PRO things first. It is a quite comfortable pillow and is very well made. The instructions are clearly laid out and are very user friendly. It comes packed in a nice heavy duty bag that can be reused to store linens or such in. The novelty of having a new pillow will fast make you the most popular mom in the household. I do think it would have some therapeutic advantages for the right kind of person.
Now with the CONS, let me start by saying I am a warm blooded person. When my kids are little, I am adamant about having their mattresses covered in waterproof sheets. Because of that, I can’t stand to lay on their beds as the waterproof lining makes me sweat and get too hot too fast. I have the same problem with the Mediflow pillow. It holds water, a lot of water; therefore it has a vinyl interior. Thus, you see where I am going here, it makes me sweat! I do not like being sweaty while sleeping, it makes my cranky. I tried waiting for a cooler night to try the pillow again, but it is summertime and I live in sunny California. A magical cool night did not come my way. The pillow is also very heavy. Now that could be an advantage, say with an older person, as the pillow is rather hard to push on to the ground or lose since the water sort of acts like an anchor, anchoring the pillow to your mattress.
So while I can’t recommend this pillow to those that are warm blooded like me, I would say that this is a great find, for someone with neck troubles or sleeping troubles. Like I said the pillow is very comfy and has been a hit in our house, because I have said, “don’t touch” and it is quite comfy.
I hope this has given you enough information to decide whether the Mediflow pillow would be a good fit for you.
