Back-to-Beauty Blog Carnival | Win $20 Save Rewards from Eversave

Dealing with stress is part of life and I try not to let it get to me, but it sometimes still does. I have those days where I feel so overwhelmed that I just want to cry (and I do). I try to manage my stress levels by taking some time out for me and removing myself physically from the stressful situation. Sometimes it’s as simple as just going outside in the yard and smelling the flowers in the garden. I also like to hop in the car and go for a drive with no particular destination. I find the fresh air really helps to clear my head and put things into perspective.

I’ve always been a worry-wart. In fact, I was even voted the “worry-wart” of the class of 1997 in my high school because I was always stressing. I think after I became a mother, the worrying intensified. I worry about my kids all the time!

According to a survey of moms, Eversave found that many of us actually worry about a lot of the same things!

  • Money stress: 71% (check!)
  • Worrying about their kids: 53% (check!)
  • Finding time for their spouse/significant other: 45% (check!)
  • Preparing meals/managing the household: 33% (check!)

I can relate to each and every one of the above. Crazy. I need a vacation.

What about your to-do list? Do you have one? Do you ever get it all done and cross everything off the list? My to-do list is never ending. I do my best, but somedays feel very overwhelmed.

Have you ever done any of the following to try and save time?

  • Stuff clutter into closets or dirty dishes into the oven before guests come over (66% of moms surveyed did!)
  • Serve their children fast food more than once per week (58% of moms surveyed have done this)
  • Give in to a child’s temper tantrum in order to save time (47% of moms give in)
  • Let children dress in mismatched clothes to get to school/work on time (38% have done this)
We spend all our time helping others and where we skimp is our me time!

Once in awhile, I will head to our local day spa and have either a pedicure or facial. I always enjoy going so much and feel a million times better when I leave. I would go every week if I could! I think it’s important to take care of yourself because we often spend so much time caring for others that we forget about ourselves.

I’m not the only woman who enjoys “me time”. Eversave surveyed over 700 moms and 35% said they find time for themselves once a month and their preferred way to spend that time is pampering themselves with manicures, pedicures, facials and other spa treatments.

Another fun way is to take a night off and go to a movie with some friends or your significant other. John and I go to the movies every few months and it’s a treat to have a night out. One upcoming film that looks really good is I Don’t Know How She Does It starring Sarah Jessica Parker who plays busy working mom struggling to do it all. Sounds like my kind of movie! It opens in theatres on September 16.
