Back to School Bash | Octopus Opposites Review

About the Book:

Empty, full; push, pull; young, old; hot, cold! The creatures in this vibrant book range from friendly elephants to exotic kookaburras, each with a pair of opposites to share. A companion to Alligator Alphabet and Counting Cockatoos, Octopus Opposites will encourage youngsters to find opposites all over the place in their own worlds. The learning continues at the end, where readers find out where each of the animals makes its home.

My Review:

The youngest learners are sure to love Octopus Opposites by Stella Blackstone and Stephanie Bauer. This colorful hardcover edition is a favorite with my three year old son who loves to complete the opposite word on each page. The illustrations are like a work of art with the animals and their habitats coming to life in a world of vibrant colors. At the end of the book, Jacob likes to practice reciting his pairs of opposites and we talk about the places around the world where each animal makes his/her home. My children’s grandmother originally gave us this book as a gift and it has consistently been a well requested favorite in our preschool collection.

Barefoot Books is such a wonderful way to expose even the youngest children to a world of creativity and imagination. In my experience books like Octopus Opposites can open the door to a lifelong love of reading for children of all ages.

You are invited to visit Barefoot Books to purchase Octopus Opposites as a hardcover picture book for $16.99 or the board book for $7.99.

The companion books, Alligator Alphabet and Counting Cockatoos is also available for purchase from Barefoot Books.
