Saturday Featured Blog | The Steady Hand

Today I would like to welcome Aprile from The Steady Hand. I had a chance to learn more about her blog and here’s what she had to say…

Please tell me about yourself.

This is Aprile. I am the hands behind The Steady Hand. I am a SAHM to my beautiful 2 year old daughter, Abby. I currently live in Fort Worth, TX with my Husband, Daughter and family dog – Scruffy. All my work is done in my home in my specially made craft room that my husband put together for me.

I found that becoming a mother I wanted and needed to better myself. I wanted to give my daughter everything I never had and more. So out of that obsession I learned to crochet and sew reading from books, taking a couple classes and a lot of trial and error. I started with just making her hats and blankets before she was born to sewing her outfits as she started to learn to walk. I feel so lucky to be able to watch her grow and learn. She is my inspiration. Everything is no new to her that she puts everything she has into learning or figuring something out. I put that into my crochet and sewing. I try to make every piece just that perfect or that much better. I challenge myself to make sure that I am always learning something new too.

All my products are made by me in my craft room where no one else is allowed to go…although my daughter manages to sneak in here every now and then to wrap herself with some yarn. Being a thrifty mom as well, I buy most of my supplies on sale and/or with coupons that way I can pass my savings to other mom’s looking for affordable items. All the items I make are made with a lot of time, patience and love. If something does not come out the way I like it, I do it again and again until I am satisfied. So you can be sure whatever you buy from me is a high quality handcrafted item.

I make many different items from hats and scarves to toddler outfits and slippers. I like to constantly try new patterns and yarns always finding ways to better my craft.

Please tell me about your blog.

I blog about my daily activities, interesting things I find on Facebook or on other blogs and share cool giveaways that I find. I also share what crafts I am currently working on, free craft patterns and links to other crafty blogs or resources.

How long have you been blogging?

I started blogging January 2, 20100.

How did you get started?

It was one of New Year’s Resolutions to start blogging. I wanted to express myself and also talk about the things I loved to people who could relate. My husband got tired of hearing about things he didn’t understand…lol.

What kinds of products do you feature on your blog?

I feature products that I feel are useful to me as a mom, wife and crafter. Anything that fits into those categories or that would help make my life any easier I love to share.

What was your favourite giveaway?

I have entered and seen so many giveaways that I do not have a favorite. But I think people prefer the giveaways that have many prizes than they do to the giveaways that just have one.

Who does your blog appeal to?

I believe my blog appeals to other SAHMs, WAHMs, people that like to crochet or sew or who are interested in handcrafted items.

What direction do you see your blog going in the future?

I see my blog’s content staying pretty much the same but I see myself gaining more followers.

What is the biggest challenge you have faced so far with your blog?

The biggest challenge I think I have faced with my blog is getting the design just the way I like it. I don’t want my blog to look cluttered or full. I want people to look at my blog, read it and be able to navigate it easily.

What do you love about blogging?

I like being able to share my thoughts and feelings with others.

Tell me some of your favourite blogs that you read.
