Monetizing Your Blog: March 2011 Report

Each month I share the previous month’s affiliate earnings so you can get an idea of which programs are successful. This past month I was just a little shy of what I made in February, but I’m still very pleased.

Total $368.45

Which program do you like the best? Are there any that you recommend I check out?

I’m planning to do posts about Linkworth since many of you asked about how to use it. I know it’s a bit confusing at first. If you have any specific questions about Linkworth, just leave them here in the comments and I’ll do a series of posts answering your questions.

For further monetization tips, please check out my Monetize Your Blog section.

I’m your 8001 follower…woohoo! I am interested in learning more about LinkWorth and how to incorporate it with Tumblr.

Also, thanks for the post, I use some of the affiliates listed and never know if my earnings are on the right track. So this helps me gage if I’m optimizing the right ones, at the same time learning about new ones to check out :)

  2. That is awesome. I use a few of these programs and have not been near that successful with them. What is your secret? LOL

  3. Wow, your LinkWorth is huge! If I decide to take the plunge and join, is there any link or something I can use to give you credit for the referral?

  4. Connie says:

I must be an idiot. I can’t figure Linkworth out for the life of me. Looks like I probably should. You’re so sweet to share. I make about 30 cents a month :)

  5. Tanks! I signed up with LinkWorth and added you as a referer.

  6. CaseyDeuce says:

I’m so looking forward to your insight about linkworth!!

  7. I signed up for a lot of these when you shared last month though I am a new blogger therefor I knew that I would not see results right away. Yet I too am having trouble figuring out Linkworth =0( Thanx for all you do ;-)

  8. Stacie, Is the money worth it too do the affliate stuff at all? Does most of your ads come from affliate or is that a separate monetization situation?

  9. I’m a pretty new blogger, not quite two months yet. I started using My Savings Media first, and have a TON of success with that one already… Almost $100 in 3 weeks! But I’m not having as much success with some others that I’ve used, like Escalate or Revenue Curve.

One that I did just recently check out and want to WARN people against is BuyBlogReviews.com . I was a bit wary of the name… I don’t mind being compensated for a review, but “Buy Blog Reviews” seemed like an almost tacky way to put it, right? But I’d read somewhere else that they were great. No, and YUCK. In 3 days, all I’ve gotten are emails to write posts about gay dating, nude dating, etc. Um, not family friendly! So if you come across it, ignore it! No good at all :(

Thank you so much for this list! I’m using a few, and signed up (and mentioned that you referred me!) on a few others. Very helpful, and very appreciated! You rock :)

Wow..I think I’d be happy with any of those. I have Sponsored Tweets but they have kinda abandoned me? I don’t get anything to tweet anymore.

I really don’t understand MyLikes. Is it like Sponsored Tweets where they give you a job to tweet?

LinkWorth sounds so promising. But I don’t know if it and the rest are open Internationally? I guess if they can send to Paypal then it’s okay. But not all do. Any thoughts?

    Thanks for sharing Stacie!

    • Stacie says:

I lowered my tweet rate with Sponsored Tweets and I get the odd one. I make most of that money on referrals lately. I used to get way more offers before.

Yes, MyLikes is similar to Sponsored Tweets. I usually get one per day with them.

Yes, Linkworth is international. I live in Canada. I think they send via Paypal as well.

      • Abby says:

I see. Guess they are just slowing down?

Now I have never gotten anything on MyLikes. That’s why I was wondering.

Cool. I will so look into that then.

        Thanks Stacie!

    Hi Stacie!

I am new to blogging and have a small blog with no reviews or contests yet. I am too small and would it be worth it to do this? I could use the extra money but do you have to report this money to the IRS?

    • Stacie says:

It can’t hurt to try right? That’s what I always say. Just test some out and see what works for you.

I’m in Canada so we don’t have the IRS but I am pretty sure you need to report all the income you make no matter where you live.

I don’t know how to use Linkworth, but I’m signed up for it. I make between $75-$100/month with SocialSpark, and since I’ve started PayPerPost, I make about $50/month with them.

  13. Amanda says:

Wow. I cannot believe that you can make that much money in a month just from blogging. Congrats!

Hi! I was searching for a site to link my giveaway on my blog, but I’m happy I found your blog. I have just started out with Amazon.ca, so I don’t know how lucrative it will be. I’m also in Canada, eh! Anywhoo, how did you find all these different affiliates, and are they they little buttons on the sidebar? How do you suggest I start monetizing more?

    • Stacie says:

Unfortunately I make peanuts with Amazon…in 2 years its like $4. I wish I knew the secret there to making $$$.

Just trial and error with the affiliates. Try some out and see how they work but give it time. It took me awhile before i finally got in the groove of making actual money from my site. These ones I listed above are ones that have been working for me.

The sidebar buttons are private ads that people bought from me. You can charge a monthly fee for ads on your site and offer discounts if they purchase more than one month at a time :)

  15. Liz says:

    Hi Stacie,

I tend to do a little better with Shareasale but that’s an affiliate directory of programs, sometimes affiliates do better with private programs and that’s clearly the case for you.

    Good job :-)

    Liz

  16. Krystal says:

    awesome :)

  17. Kristen says:

You can’t use LinkWorth with blogspot can you? :(

  18. Cheryl says:

I tried to sign up for Linkworth, but I was declined.

  19. Stephanie says:

Hi Stacie! Thank you so much for sharing this info – so very helpful! I plan to check out all of these programs but wonder – do you have advice on 1 or 2 a new blogger should start with? I’m feeling a little overwhelmed at the thought of doing them all but want to get my feet wet. Any recommendations on where to start?

    Thank you again!
