My Review:

I was a huge fan of The Sonoma Diet so I was thrilled to find out that the original has been completely updated and simplified with new power foods. The New Sonoma Diet by Dr. Connie Guttersen is filled with delicious whole food based recipes that are designed to help you lose weight without sacrificing flavor or deprivation. The author has included the latest news in nutrition science to make it as effective as possible to lose pounds and be healthy.

The New Sonoma Diet revisits the original eating plan and discusses the new changes. I have always appreciated that the premise of The New Sonoma Diet focuses on savoring each wholesome meal, includes wine in moderation and encourages eating in season and sustainability. I was fascinated by the information presented in the “Power Foods” chapter and enjoyed learning about the top twelve power foods which is the key to The New Sonoma Diet. The diet plan is broken down into two easy to follow “waves” and includes delicious recipes and lots of tips to maintain a healthy lifestyle.

What makes The New Sonoma Diet a stand out in my opinion is that it is a healthy program and the recipes can be made for the entire family so I don’t have to cook separately for myself making it much more user friendly for busy families. My family and I enjoyed numerous “low glycemic load” recipes from the cookbook and our favorites were the Herb Marinated Flank Steak and the Grilled Vegetables and Ricotta. My children really enjoyed the Almond Cherry Biscotti and I found it a very tasty treat.

In my opinion The New Sonoma Diet is a very worthy read for anyone looking to improve your eating habits, lose weight and incorporate healthy and wholesome foods. I have been following this plan for 16 days and each day (except one) my scale has dropped little by little much to my delight. I have not experienced any hunger at all and my cravings are for whole fruits, a small piece of dark chocolate and tea as opposed to junk food. This is my favorite nutrition/diet book that I have read in the last year and I do have more energy when following this lifestyle plan!
