Dearest Hannah,
From the moment your tiny fingers grasped mine as you struggled to take a breath at birth, I knew that you were the most beautiful girl in the world. Your father and I had been given such a wonderful gift that we vowed to do everything we could to keep you safe in this world and make sure that you always knew just how very special you are to us.
When you saw me putting on my make-up recently and asked me if you could have lip gloss, I told you that little girls don’t need to wear make-up. You looked at me so innocently and said “But mommy, I want to look pretty.” I felt so sad that my beautiful little girl, only three years old, already felt that she needed to wear make-up to feel that she is pretty.
What makes you a beautiful little girl? It is not make-up or fancy clothes. It is the way your eyes sparkle and light up a room when you laugh. It is your sweet personality and the way you snuggle softly into my arms at night and tell me that you wish that I could hold you forever.†It is in the moments when your baby brother falls off his bike and hurts himself and you rush over and kiss his boo boo better so that that he will stop crying.
I will never forget the day you were in the hospital bed fighting to breathe during a severe asthma attack and I was terrified that you would be taken away from us. As I lay my head next to you weeping, you stroked my hair and struggled to say, “Mommy, please don’t cry because I love you so much and it makes me sad. Your God given gifts are what make you beautiful…your compassion, your silliness, your thirst to learn about the world around you and your strength.
When you have moments in life when you feel ugly, or insecure or inadequate, I want you to always remember that as long as you rely on your inner beauty, you will always be the Prettiest Princess in all the land.
With love now and forever, Mommy

My 3 yo little girl is beautiful because she is so sweet and thoughtful. I love hearing her say, “Thank you, mommy,” when she sees that clothes or blankets are clean and I’m folding them. I love the sweet way that she sings about Jesus, and isn’t afraid to pray (even though most don’t understand what she’s saying, God knows her heart!).

My daughters are 4 and 2, and my son is 7 1/2 months. They are all so different but all so sweet. I love their little personalities, so unique! I love their smile, their laugh, their good heart, and most of all, their innocence.

What makes my princess beautiful is her smile. When my daughter Beth smiles it light up not only her face, but the whole world around her.
My grandaughters bring back a portion of my youth.

My 18 year old princess is beautiful because of the way she treats her friends and family, such a loving soul.
My 14 year old princess is beautiful because of her dry sense of humor and her infectious laugh.
I love how she is always noticing people’s personalities. Like when watching a cartoon she might say “That girl isn’t being very nice”.
