Fit for Fall: Oregon Chai Review & Giveaway (Closed)

One thing I miss about living in Edmonton is my daily ritual of heading over to Starbucks across the road where I worked and getting my Chai Latte. Now that I live in Nova Scotia and hours away from the nearest Starbucks or Second Cup, I have gone without my beloved hot drink. I had no idea that I could make these delicious drinks at home myself with Oregon Chai Tea Latte Mix!

I was reading some background on Oregon Chai and found it really interesting how they came out. Back in 1991, the founder of Oregon Chai, Heather Howett, was travelling in the Himalayas  and tried a new hot beverage that was a black tea with hints of honey, vanilla and spices all whipped into a latte. It quickly became her new favourite beverage. When she returned home to the US, she looked everywhere for this special drink, but had no success. It was then she created her own Western interpretation of this sweet, satisfying ancient Eastern beverage and Oregon Chai was born.

The Oregon Chai product line consists of both the just add water and just add milk varieties of lattes. They are available in the following flavours:

  • The Original
  • Vegan Original
  • Slightly Sweet Original
  • Caffeine-Free Original
  • Sugar-Free Original
  • Matcha Green Tea
  • Vanilla

I received a fabulous package from Oregon Chai for my review including:

  • Double-walled acrylic reusable iced tea cup
  • Hot mug and USB-powered mug warmer
  • Mood ring
  • Flash Drive with more info on Oregon Chai
  • The Original Chai Tea Latte Mix (284 g)

I happily squealed with joy as I opened my package. It had been sooooooo long since I enjoyed a Chai Latte. I couldn’t wait to try it out! Right away, I made myself a cup. The oversized mug they sent was perfect and better than any mug I own in my house. I added 2 tbsp of the mix to the cup then filled it with hot water and stirred. I tentatively took a sip and was in pure bliss. It’s even better than I remember. So sweet and rich with the flavour of the spices. This is the perfect drink to keep with you as you relax with a good book or work on a computer like I do. The USB warmer is SO NEAT! I can plug it into my laptop and it keeps my drink warm as I work on my blog.

Even John was impressed. I wasn’t sure what he would think of Chai Lattes because he hasn’t tried them before. He loved it too! He said it tasted like cinnamon and nutmeg. I know we are going to have to get more of this product!

You can also make a cold Chai Latte with this mix. Add 2 tbsp of the mix to your glass and mix with warm water and then pour over ice. For myself, I always think of a Chai Latte as a hot beverage so that’s how I prefer to drink it. However, its nice to drink cold on a hot, muggy day when a hot drink just isn’t cutting it.

Oregon Chai is available in the US, Canada and Europe through cafes, natural food retailers, grocery stores, restaurants and online.

*I was not financially compensated for this post. I received a sample of the product for review purposes. The opinions are completely my own based on my experience.*
