BKW Seasoning is a family owned business. They started making seasonings back in the early 1960’s. The goal was to make an original buffalo-style wing that would satisfy friends and family. In 1007 they opened a small take-out restaurant near the University of Tennessee campus called Big Kahuna Wings. Two weeks after opening they competed against 29 other national, regional and local restaurants (including Hooter’s and Spicy’s) and was voted Best wings in the Knoxville annual “War of the Wingsâ€.
I was given the opportunity to sample their 7 pack of spices. We grill a lot and we like a lot of flavor. I was not disappointed with this set of spices. I opened them all up and tried them one at a time. I could think of specific dishes for each one that I will be making over the next two weeks.
First I had to try the Original Butter Blend. I read the description on the bottle and it said it was great on popcorn. I love popcorn! I’m a purist. Give me a lot of real butter and some salt. I am fully converted to seasonings now! I’m ashamed to admit I ate an entire huge bowl of popcorn all by myself! It was that good. If you know someone who loves to grill, cook or eat this is a great gift to give.
My only complaint is that it’s not available for sale in Utah. If you can’t wait for it to come to your state or to win the giveaway you can purchase individual bottles or gift packs at BKW’s website using Paypal. The other great about their website is that they offer 5 lb tubs of seasoning. So if you really like a flavor you can get a lot all in one shot.
