Title:The Adventures of Joe-Joe Nut and Biscuit Bill – Case #1: The Great Pie Catastrophe
Author: Renee Hand
Everyone loves a good mystery, especially kids. This mystery is one that will keep them entertained and reading right till the end. I thought this book was neat because it does not talk down to kids, Â but rather engages them in finding out the truth themselves, using the clues they read to help them on the way.
I tutor kids and I had one of my students start reading it aloud to me and he loved it a lot. He has not made it through the whole book yet, but he looks forward to reading a new chapter of it when we meet.
I think this would be a great read-aloud book for teachers in a classroom as well. There is nothing scary in the book, it teaches you about animals, it increases vocabulary and one thing I loved was the section in the back called “Animal Facts and Questions.” There are tracks of real animals to identify, and a good page and a half of interesting facts about the real life animals used in the telling of this story. It’s a great way to bring the novel into another subject like science.
All in all I thought this book deserved an A+.

Thank you so much for reviewing book 1 of my Joe-Joe Nut Series. I greatly appreciate it. I also have another mystery series known as the Crypto-Capers Series. It is interactive. In order for the reader to solve the case they must solve cryptograms and puzzles. Please check out my website for more info. Thank you again.
